Carl

The love of my life was carrying my child, and I was going to do everything in my power to provide for us. With or without support from our families. There was no way I was gonna end up like my deadbeat, sperm donor, 'father.'

I had been taking all of the extra shifts that I could at Patsy's over the past couple of days. It was honestly exhausting, but I was appreciative of Sierra, who allowed me to work so much.

Cailee wanted to tell her Aunt Lily and Fiona about the baby before we told anyone else. The problem was that the two had been super busy lately, which was obviously a bummer.

Cailee and I were sitting in my room, trying to get a hold of our mother figures.
I took out my phone and dialed Fiona. She picked up in a few rings.

"Hey, Fi."

"Hey, what's up?" She sounded occupied.

"I was wondering if you had time to go out with Cailee and I this week?"

She paused for a second and I heard shuffling in the background, "I'm sorry, we're renovating the building and I kinda need to be here to keep everything in order. Next week?"

"Uh, yeah, okay. Next week then," I sighed. We'd just have to wait even longer to tell her. Cailee wasn't getting any less pregnant by the day.

"Wait, did you do something bad?"

"Oh shit, I'm losing connection," I started crumbling my empty chip bag next to the receiver, "Fi- I- but-"

"Carl, you better not be in trouble, I swea-" she started to yell. I hung up instantly. I looked over at Cailee, who was about to ring her aunt.

"That went well..." Cailee said sarcastically. "Let's see if I have better luck."

Cailee

I went to my contacts and tapped on 'Auntie 💗'. She picked up on the second ring.

"Auntie?"

"Hi, sweetie."

"Are you free any time this week? Carl and I wanna get together with you."

She sighed, "Sorry honey, work has me all backed up this week."

"Uh, it's okay. Another time soon?"

"Sure honey! I gotta go, I love you."

"I love you too," I hung up and tossed my phone onto Carl's bed, "Ugh. She's busy too."

Carl sat on the floor and wrapped his arm around me, "There is another opportunity... Guess what's coming up?"

"What's coming up?" Don't say it...

"Your birthday, duh. I know you wanna tell them separately, but we have one stone, and many birds to kill. We could get everybody-" Oh hell no.

"No, no, no, absolutely not. You know I can't tell Fi and Aunt Lily at the same time. Emotional overload bound to happen."
