Chapter 3

((Thorin POV))

I woke up and immediately started getting ready and woke up everyone else. As I was getting ready I turned to see Melody stumbling out of her room not dressed to leave and yawning. She was an interesting one. Pretty was an understatement. I watched her stretch and comb her fingers through her untamed and silky hair. I turned away for a second and looked back to see she was gone. I shook my head and turned back away only to see Melody flying upside down right in front of me. "Agh! What are you doing?" I yelled watching her giggle. "Good morning master Thorin!" She said flipping around and landing on the floor. "Good morning." She bowed to me and scampered off else where.

"Thorin. Do you trust the faerie?" I turned to see Dwalin leaning against the wall. "I'm not sure. She's an odd one that's for sure, but last night she came and spoke to me." I said. "And what was it?" Dwalin urged on. "She told me that she would be honored to serve and protect us. Gandalf has told me that fairies are very powerful beings." "Yes, I heard that as well. But look at her." I turned to look at Melody braiding Kili's hair upside down chugging tea. "Do ye really think she's powerful." Dwalin said sarcastically. " I don't know Dwalin....I don't know." I said turning away.

((Melody POV))

I groaned annoyed at the fact that I couldn't braid. "Why can't i do this?!???" I said turning upright. Fili laughed and caught the bag of coins I tossed. "Alright you win." I glared at the coins and was tapped on the shoulder by Balin. I touched my feet on the ground and smiled at him. "May I help you master Balin?" I said respectfully. "You should be getting ready dear, we'll be leaving soon." I nodded and flew quickly to my room. I pulled on a short mint green strapless dress that accented my chest and hips. I laced a black waist coat ((okay only Imagine that it does not go over her chest it only go around her stomach and laces up in the front)) and wrapped my belt holding my throwing knives around my small waist. I grabbed a bag I had brought and wrapped my cloak and extra clothes and a coat. I threw in apples to eat during the journey and buckled my bag, tossing it over my shoulder. I walked out of my room only to get some glances from Bofur and Dwalin. "What?" I asked walking towards the dwarves. "Why are ye wearing a dress lass?" Bofur asked eyeing me up and down. "Oh well...since we're going such a long ways I don't want to wear a shirt because it rubs on my wings and makes them sore a lot quicker so I'm wearing something that let's my wings be free." I said twirling to show them what I mean. Bofur nodded but Dwalin glared. "It's a little short isn't it." He said gruffly. "Well...I mean I guess. But it's comfortable...and this is what fairies wear." I said and turned flying out the door. I landed behind Fili and tapped on his shoulder. He looked at me then smiled. "Can I help you?" I nodded "I was wondering if you could hold my bag on your horse. It will be in my way when I'm flying." Fili nodded and gladly took my bag, strapping it to his pony. I thanked him and went to speak to Thorin. "Hello again master Thorin." I said landing next to him. "Hello...nice dress. Won't it bother you if you have to fight? And wear are your weapons." Thorin said looking me up an down. I simply held my hand out, causing a glow of flashing light to appear and disappear leaving a beautifully crafted sword in my hand. "I don't have to hold my weapons." Thorin looked at my sword in awe. I handed to him and he eagerly took it to inspect. "This....this sword is beautiful! How did you do that?" He asked. "I've been taught many spells...one is to hide my weapons until I need them. When I do I just conjure them." I took my sword back and made it dissapear. "That's amazing, but we must go." I nodded in agreement.

We all soon left and where on our way out of the shire. I must admit I was having fun gliding through the air and talking to the dwarves.

((Thorin POV))

I rode at the front of our group next to Gandalf. Occasionally Melody would fly ahead twisting and twirling in the air. She slowed down between Gandalf and I. "Master, is there anything you would like me to do?" She said to Gandalf. Why did she call him master? She called me Master Thorin, but it seems as though she means master in a different way when referring to Gandalf.
"Yes Melody, fly ahead and make sure that our path is safe. Come back when you are certain." Melody nodded and went flying far ahead of the rest of us.
