CALEB MADE HIS WAY down the stairs of the Halpert house and towards the kitchen with his backpack slung on his shoulders. Madison was munching on a piece of toast, attempting to turn on her broken phone as he entered.

She turned her head when she heard him and pushed herself off the surface she was resting on, "Morning."

"Morning." Caleb nodded towards her phone, "Still broken?"

"Annoyingly." Madison sighed. She placed it down and picked up the old Nokia brick phone beside it, "I have this one from years ago. I put in three phone numbers I remembered."

Caleb moved closer to her, analyzing her expression, "Are you feeling better after last night?"

Madison shrugged, "I just wanna take my mind off of it. I'm actually going to meet my friends, did you wanna come?"

"Uh, I've got somewhere to be." Caleb told her, "But thanks for the offer."

"Okay." Madison pocketed the old brick phone and grabbed her bag from the kitchen surface, placing it on her shoulder, "I'll walk out with you."

Madison grabbed the house keys and the two headed out of the house. She closed the front door behind them, locking it. They walked down the drive.

Madison's eyes flickered up to look at him, "Thank you for staying over. I hope the mattress wasn't too lumpy, my dad spent a lot of time in there when my parents split up."

"It was quite comfortable." He responded, seeming a little off.

"Are you all right?" Madison asked, concerned, "Is it about what happened at the dance?"

Caleb came to a halt and turned infront of her, making her stop too. He was about to ask her something but changed his mind to another thought instead, "That man, the one you walked out into the hallway with. Who is he?"

Madison pondered for a moment before realising he meant Jason. But how was she suppose to respond? Someone I keep secretly hooking up with, someone I'm kind of in love with, someone who's been avoiding me for days, someone who shut me out of his life for an entire year.

Her eyes met his, "Alison's brother."

"Alison." Caleb spoke quietly, "The one you don't want to talk about?"
