"IS IT THE AGE DIFFERENCE?" Madison asked Ezra as he drove her home, "Because it's the same as you and Aria, which I find a little weird too, you know. But the difference is, she's my bestfriend, you don't even know Jason."
"Exactly." Ezra said, "And how well do you know him, Madi?"
"Pretty well." She stated, without all the literal naked details, "He's Ali's brother, I've known him for a long time."
"You've known of him," Ezra responded, "that doesn't necessarily mean you know him."
Madison exhaled, annoyed at him, "It's nice you're being an overprotective brother and all, but I'm seventeen, I can make my own choices, Ezra."
"I'm trying to stop you from becoming like your friend." He told her.
Madison furrowed her brows, "What friend?"
"Alison."
I already am like her, she thought.
But instead she asked, "What do you mean?"
"I mean dead, Madi." Ezra responded, with concern.
This threw Madison off. She became silent, drowning in her thoughts as the radio lowly played from the speakers. She turned her head to look at Ezra, "When were you gonna tell me you're paying for Joe's therapy sessions?"
Ezra's eyebrows crushed together in confusion, "What?"
"Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about," She scoffed, "he told me."
"How can I pay for his therapy when I haven't even spoken to your brother?" Ezra questioned, "I didn't even know he needed therapy."
"What?" Madison stared at him, "He said you've been paying for his sessions?"
"Well, he lied to you." Ezra responded. He glanced to the brunette in concern, "Madi, what is going on with Joe? First the police, now this."
She pondered for a moment, trying to think of any reason possible how or why Joe would do this. Her eyes widened, "Oh my God. Why didn't I realise sooner?"
"What?" Ezra asked.
Madison exhaled, "He's been stealing from garages and selling the stuff to his friends at school. That's where he's been getting the money to pay for it, in secret."
Ezra pulled up a few houses from the Halpert residence, incase her parents were home. He didn't want to cause any arguements. Madison was about to leave before Ezra asked, "You gonna be okay?"
