A Twist in Time (1)

Chapter Twenty Seven

James returned to his roaming of the halls after dropping Nigel off at the common room, he felt bad for the kid, being bullied was hard. James had never been bullied the houses were more evolved in his Generation. There was of course some bullying but nothing like what Nigel had been through, that looked horrendous. James was lost in his train of thought that he didn't realize the two identical red heads next to him. It wasn't until they actually started talking that he turned to see the two on either side of him.
"Something of the bother Patterson?" Fred asked looking at the younger Gryffindor.
"Just a lot on my mind," James answered before he realized he had no idea what day it was. "You don't happen to know what day it is do you?"
"Yes, it's June 15th why?" George answered. They had a DA meeting and it was the meeting where they got caught. Cho's friend was going to rat them out and that meant that they had their O.W.L's in two days where the Weasley Twins left and then the next day they were going to the Department of Mysteries. (I know the time isn't exactly right but it's in the correct order.)
"Thanks, I suppose I'll be seeing you two at the meeting later?" James asked tuning back into the conversation. 
"Wouldn't miss it," they both said in unison. 
"Great, were practicing Patronus's," James told them, "I have to go sort out a few things."
James had decided something, he was going to protect Nigel. He was going to throw the cloak over him to protect him from Umbridge's horrible detentions. James ran in the other direction as he truly did need to sort some things out. He ran back up to the Common Room and pulled out his cloak. Nigel was sitting on one of the mix and match chairs and took the seat next to him. 
"Nigel, I want you to do me a favor, in case Umbridge finds us at the DA meeting I want you to take my cloak. If anything goes wrong just throw it over yourself. However, I am going to need it back by the end of the week, it's Wednesday so why don't you give it back to me on say, Saturday or Sunday. Can you do that for me Nigel?" James asked looking at the much smaller boy.
"I can do that James, do you think something could go wrong?" Nigel answered.
"All I know is that Umbridge is getting closer and closer to our meeting place and sometimes even at the right time, now remember do exactly what I told you." Nigel nodded in understanding.
James left for the room of requirement, to his great surprise he had been wondering the halls for hours lost in thought, when he arrived at the room of requirement Harry, Ron and Hermione were already there. James didn't pay them much mind as he walked over to the board which held all the names of Dumbledore's Army. He found Nigel's name near the bottom and tapped it with his wand and it disappeared. 
"What are you doing James?" Ron asked standing beside him.
"Safety precaution is all. He's still in the DA after all, I'm just nervous is all," James explained placing his wand back in his robe pockets. "When's the meeting starting?" 
"In five," Hermione told him as she checked her watch. Everyone could sense that there was something up with James, he looked increasingly nervous by the second. He kept running his hand through his hair which was exactly what Harry did when he was nervous or stressed. 
"Are you alright James?" Harry asked at the pacing James.
"Wonderful," James mumbled without looking up. Before anyone could question more, people started coming in through the door and Harry and James got ready. James still looked nervous and worn out at the same time, to Harry it looked like James had seen a ghost and maybe he had, maybe he had seen many.
"We're practicing Patronus's today, you lot know the drill," Harry told them briefly. Everyone went to practice their patronus's for a few minutes close to a half hour when the banging on the door started. James knew what was happening and he ran over to Nigel. "Go now!" James yelled as Nigel pulled the cloak out of his pocket and threw it over himself. At that moment Umbridge and her Inquisitorial squad appeared as everyone fled out of the other door, Hermione and Ron had made it out and James and Harry were about to leave when Crabbe and Goyle grabbed them by and pushed them over to Umbridge. 
"I knew it had something to do with you two. What's that piece of Parchment? Oh, I just knew that Dumbledore had something to do about it! This will finally give Cornelius grounds to fire Dumbledore. What's Dumbledore's Army supposed to be?" Umbridge demanded looking happy yet mad at the same time. "I'll send a Patronus to Cornelius and we will take Dumbledore into custody."

Harry and James were forced up to Dumbledore's office but before they reached it they were intercepted by Kingsley and Cornelius Fudge the Minister of Magic. They walked to Dumbledore's office in a group before Umbridge told the Inquisitorial's  to go back to their Common Rooms. Reluctantly, they left Harry and James with the adults. They entered Dumbledore's office to find him waiting for them with Fawkes next to him.
"These two should be expelled, we have a member of the group who has told us that Patterson and Potter were running a group teaching the students DADA," Umbridge told the Headmaster, "They should be expelled."
"And what is this group called?" Dumbledore asked.
"Dumbledore's Army, I found a list of everyone in the group now I believe they should be expelled."
"But Dolores, it isn't Potter and Patterson's Army, it's Dumbledore's Army. I asked them along with other students to go to the room of requirement where I would meet them. This is not their doing, they didn't know what was happening it was my fault," Dumbledore answered looking at the pink toad.
"Then Albus we are going to have to take you into custody," Cornelius stated motioning for Kingsley to take Albus. Kingsley waited for two seconds which gave Dumbledore time to escape.

The next day they sat through all their O.W.L's where James was waiting anxiously for the next day, suddenly the Weasley twins burst into the room on their broomsticks and everyone laughed including James.

Finally, it was time when both Harry and James had the vision. Before they knew it, they were once again in Umbridge's office. Umbridge's office was crowded especially after Luna, Neville and Ginny were pushed it. They had been trying to help the four. Instead of pointing her wand at Harry, she pointed it at James who simply glared at her. She had done that because she knew if she hurt someone Harry Potter cared about he would do anything he wanted.
