Chapter Thirty One

The reply read:

I know James, I was there remember? No, I'm just messing with you, that's wonderful to hear. Your Mum is worried sick, I don't think she really expected any of this, I think we all have a false sense of security. Voldemort is long since dead and somehow he still manages to hurt out family. Your siblings are worried sick, especially Lily you always were her favorite brother. Tell Sirius and Remus I say hi. It's been a while.

As James read James laughed and everyone else in the room stared at him.
"What is it?" Madeye demanded at his weird reaction.
"It was a funny response. I probably should read it out loud," James told them, "I can tell you the first part, he said I know James, I was there remember?"
"Why is that funny?" Fred demanded, he was quite the prankster.
"It's a long story for another time. One moment, I have to talk to my sister," James said as he walked out of the room. He had lived here before when he was younger so he knew the way.
"Harry Potter."
James's father appeared on the other side of the mirror and he smiled a sad sort of smile.
"Hi James."
"Hi dad, I actually really wanted to talk to Lily, you said she was worried."
"Of course James she's been worried sick. Their going back to school to tomorrow, it's August 31st today. She has really wanted to talk to you."
"I really wanted to talk to her since she left, she knows she's my favorite too."
The face on the other side of the room changed to reveal his little sister with a wide grin on her face.
"James!"
"Hello Lils."
"How are you?"
"I've missed you."
"I've missed you too Jamie."
"How are Albus and Teddy?"
"Jamie, when are you coming home?"
"I don't know Lils. It's not going to be soon though."
It wasn't like James Sirius Potter to cry, however at that moment a sing tear rolled down his face seeing the crushed expression on his sister's face. He hadn't realized that everyone was listening in on the other side of the closed eyes.
"Your going to come home and your going to come home James. I know you will."
"Thanks Lily. How's Marley?"
"She's great, her brother is going into his fifth year, he's the same age as you or at least he was. Would you be older then him now?"
"Well, I'm still getting older but remember we went back about twentyish years and a couple months so here it is mid to late June. But I'm still fifteen, I turn 16 July 29th remember?"
"Of course I know your birthday."
"Do you know if Teddy is still mad?"
"He's not mad and he never was, well I guess he was a bit mad that you sent us away without telling us or saying goodbye. He's more worried now, Dad told him something happened and he locked himself in his room and hasn't come out in about an hour. What did happen?"
"Okay, it's nothing for you to worry about Lily. I'm fine."
James realized people must have been listening in due to the silence coming from the dining room and he quickly cast 'Muffliato.'
"Lily can I talk to Albus?"
"Ya, he's in the other room with mum."
"I'll talk to her as well."
"Okay who do you want to talk to first? Albus or Mum?"
"Albus first then Mum and I also want to talk to Teddy."
Once again the screen changed to show a Harry Potter look alike but without glasses and brown eyes.
"Hi James."
"Hello Albus."
"I need to tell you something."
"James what happened?" 
"Albus, all you need to know is I'm fine. I wan't you to look after Lily, make sure she stays out of trouble. You were always the more responsible one anyway. I mean I was always pulling pranks and getting in trouble with detention and everything. I mean McGonagall and I are on a first name basis. I call her Minnie."
"I was already going to do that anyway James, I know you always looked after her when you were here and I will. Mum really wan'ts to talk to you so I'm going to pass you over to her."
The screen changed once again to reveal him Mum Ginny Weasley.
"Hi Mum."
"Oh thank goodness your okay James!"
"I'm okay Mum, I did sort of you know die though. But I'm okay so there is no need to worry."
"Your a lot like your father, you refuse to let anyone help you. Remember to keep in contact but I think the most important thing right now is for you to talk with Teddy, I think he blames himself for you being trapped when I was still in Hogwarts."
"Okay Mum. Do you mind passing me over to him?"
"Of course James, one moment."
The screen went blank for a moment or two before Teddy Lupin appeared on the screen.
"Hey Ted."
"James, you died."
"Ya, that sucked. I'm fine now though."
"James how did you manage to die?" 
"Well, I was in the department of mysteries and everything, then Voldemort killed me."
As James talked with his older brother he realized something, if he changed the past so his brother's parents didn't die he would lose him as a brother but it was worth it if Teddy got both his parents back.
"How are you alive James, your not a Horcrux."
"I-I think I might be Teddy but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how it worked without the Elder wand and such but it did. So, now I'm alive."
"I'm glad to hear that your alive. Dad told me everything about what was happening with you. However, you should really get back to the past, you know I love our chats and you need to call again soon but for now you should get back to the past."
"Bye Teddy."
"Bye James."
The screen went blank once and for all, James was drained. It was hard to talk to your loved ones when you could only see them through a fairly small mirror. He cleared his throat and walked back into the dining room where people were looking at him strangely. Then he realized he hadn't removed the 'Muffliato' charm that he had cast. James pulled out and removed the charm.
"What was that strange ringing?" One of the Weasley twins demanded, their extendable ears hadn't been working due to a strange ringing noise in their ears.
"Private conversation," James mumbled before running his hand through his messy raven colored hair.
