Chapter 15

Few days later. (April 23 to be exact.)

I groaned when I felt nudge me a bit.

"Saph. Wake up." I heard a familiar  voice coo softly.

"I'm sleeping." I groaned turning away from her.

"Saph it's the twenty-third." I felt the bed dip and arms wrap around me.

"Yeah there is no school. Let me sleeeeep." I nuzzled into her chest.

"Fine then no birthday breakfast. I even made your favorite." They kissed the top of my head.

"It's my birthday?" I looked up at her seeing chocolate eyes.

"Mhm"

"Then let me sleep." I closed my eyes and nuzzled back into her chest.

"You can't sleep all day. Besides food is getting cold." She tried moving out of my grip.

I held tighter, "No." 

"Sapphire. Don't make me drag you." 

"You sound like my mum." I said softly.

She let out a sigh, "You can go back to sleep after you eat breakfast."

I looked up at her eyes again, "Can you cuddle with me?" I ask hopefully.

She rolled her eyes, "Sure."

I sat up, "Yay!" then straddled her waist kissing her on the lips.

She pulled back with a smile, "Love you Saph." she said with happiness and love in her eyes.

"Love you too Alex."

"You said we could go to bed after breakfast!" I whined looking out the window of the car.

"Yeah but that was before your present arrived."

I stole a glance at her seeing she had a huge smile on her face.

"What did you get me?"

"It's a surprise. Don't worry you'll love it."

"You didn't have to get me anything you know." I sighed.

"I wanted to." 

"But still...." I turned my head to look at her.

She glanced at me then went back to the road, "It's a present from all of us."

"All of you?"

"Yeah. Me, Bolin, Mako, Korra, Asami, and even Opal." She smiled, "It wasn't an easy present to get. So I needed help."

"What type of present would be that hard to get? That you would need the whole group."

"Like I said. It's a surprise."

I crossed my arms and groaned, "I don't like surprises." I stated.

"I can tell."

"Are we almost there? Well to wherever you are taking me?" I asked impatiently.

"We're here." She stopped the car and put it in park.

I looked out the and saw an old pound, "Why are we at the pound?" I've been here before but it's been awhile. I used to help with the dogs along with Yapa.

She didn't say anything, but got out the car to which I followed. We entered to a loud front office. You could hear the dogs barking and cats meowing in the distance. 

"Guys?" I said confused when I saw the group talking to the women behind the counter.

They turned around with smiles, "Happy birthday Sapphire!" They said in unison.

I stayed silent not knowing what to say.

The women behind the desk came up to me with a clipboard, "All the expenses are paid so all you have to do is sign here." She pointed at a line with a pen.

I raised a brow at Alex and she nodded.

I signed and she took the clipboard and pen away walking to the back.

"What did I sign?" I asked felling stupid that I didn't read the fine print.

"You just signed a paper for the ownership of your new dog." Asami said walking up to me.

"W-What?" 

The woman came back with a puppy in her hands.

I felt tears burn the back of my eyes. She handed the puppy to me with me cradling them.

"So you going to name him?" Korra asked petting his soft little head.

He is the same breed as Yapa. Brown, white, and red, fluffy fur. This reminds me when dad gave me Yapa, before he left. "She'll keep you from the bad things that I can't." My dads words rang through my head.

"Yip." I said softly.
