Chapter Fourteen: The first gathering

    It was Cloudpaw's first gathering tonight! She kept grooming her chest.
  "Stop with the chest thing. You're going to lick away your fur. Then, you'll have a pink chest. Then, you'll really be embarrassed." Lilacmist laughed.
    Cloudpaw looked at her with affection and she looked over at Polo who was talking to Kody. "I'll tell you everything." Polo mewed.
    "How 'bout you just come." Hushstar said. Kody's eyes lit up. "Really? What if they don't except Kittypets?" He said.
     "Who cares. So are you coming or not?" Hushstar asked.
    Kody bounded to his little brother and Lilacmist and Cloudpaw. "All cats going to the gathering, we're leaving!" Hushstar called.
    Cloudpaw began walking. She was so excited. Jumpingpaw stayed some distance away from her. Sunpaw and her were coming to the gathering.
   "So. Has anything big happened?" Polo asked Kody. "Yeah. I found a mate. She's beautiful." Kody purred.
     "That's nice." Polo said and he stole a glance at Lilacmist. He loved her. Cloudpaw knew that. She knew Lilacmist loved Polo too. They just needed to build up enough courage to ask each other to be mates.
   Lilacmist wrapped her tail around Cloudpaw. "We're at the gathering. Follow me." She whispered.
   Lilacmist, Polo, Kody, and Cloudpaw all fan into the gathering opening. Cats all sat around. "Hello Polo!" A female called. She was a stunning Tawny apprentice. "Hello Windpaw."Polo called
   " Windfern excuse you."she said betting her eyes.  Lilacmist growled. "She's always flirting with him!" She hissed in Cloudpaw's ear.
    "Who's this?" Windfern asked looking at Kody.
    "My big brother." Polo acknowledged.
    Windfern smirked at Kody. Kody had a wierd look on his face. His eyes were filled with lust for the young she cat. She lifted her head and stalked off.
   "Ugh." Lilacmist hissed. "She's annoying. Right Polo?"
   Polo was stuck in some trance. "Yeah Lilacmist. She's totally cute."
     Lilacmist narrowed her eyes.

The gathering was ending and the clans started talking. "Cloudpaw!"
   Cloudpaw turned around to see Hailpaw. He was mostly healed except for a bite mark on his chest.
   "Hey." He said.
   "Hi." She whispered. Suddenly everything went black. Only Hailpaw and Cloudpaw were visable.
   Then, a storm of images burst in front of them.
    A deer appeared. She was a doe and she jumped from cloud to cloud. When she landed on a very white bright cloud hail burst from under the cloud.

    "The deer's gentle leap, with the help from the cloud, will cause hail to block the Sun's raging power from destroying all clans."

  "Cloudpaw!"
   Cloudpaw jerked up along with Hailpaw. Hailpaw's tail was fluffed and he looked around. Cats surrounded the two apprentices.
   "What happened!" Robinstar was yelling in Hailpaw's face. "Are you okay you just fainted?" Hushstar asked.
   Cloudpaw was too. . . distant. She was losing consciousness. She looked at Hailpaw. His eyes were darkening too. He fell. She wobbly walked to him and shook him.
    "Wailpaw. " she mewed. Her tongue wouldn't allow her to say the "H" right. "Wail..."
     She collapsed on top of him. Polo and Lilacmist were in her face in seconds. Lilacmist had tears in her eyes and Polo looked upset. Jumpingpaw pushed her way between the two and began yelling in her face. She couldn't hear anything though.
     What was happening to her? Then, all went black.
