Chapter Seven: Fireflame?

   Cloudpaw watched as they dragged her sister away. Adderbite was being pinned down by Leafrain, a white Tom with brown leaf shaped spots.
      Leafrain wasn't as strong as Adderbite but he way smarter. Leafrain put one paw on his throat and the other paw on his belly. Cloudpaw could hear Sunpaw giving out low whines and whimpers.
       Hushstar was looking at his clan. His eyes drifted back and forth over the clan. Fireflame looked at her and he bounded away. "Wait! Come back." Hushstar called.
     Fireflame stopped. He turned his head over his shoulder. "Fireflame. Ravenflight had died and her apprentice still needs  a mentor. " Whiteblaze called.
     "We're allowing you, Fireflame, to be her mentor." Hushstar said.
    Fireflame's fur bristled. "Me?!"
"Him?!" Cloudpaw shouted. "That's what we said." Hushstar laughed.
     "You never had an apprentice, you're young, and both of you lost something in the war of foxes. We'll never know what that feels like but you do." Hushstar said watching them closely.
     Fireflame shifted when everyone began staring at him. "Yeah, okay." Fireflame mewed and took off.
      Whiteblaze and Hushstar both left into the Leader's den and the Elders took Ravenflight's body away.
    Cloudpaw sighed and went into the apprentice den.
    Lilacpaw gave her a sympathetic look.
    "Hey. You okay?" She asked. "No." Cloudpaw sighed.
     Lilacpaw sat up and she walked over to Cloudpaw. She curled up beside her. "Get some rest. I'll stay up for you."
    Cloudpaw closed her eyes and let the rest begin.

The sky was a beautiful violet color. Cloudpaw was a cloud again drifting in the sky.
   She mewed in alarm. Every time she was a cloud bad things happen.
     She could see a ray of sunlight. It was beaming of a tree, and really high rock, a grassy plain, and a moon. She looked on in confusion. Then she remembered. The sun was bad!
    She had to block the objects from the sun. Just as the sun struck she blocked the sun's ray.
    Then, a Golden cat appeared.
    Cloudpaw's body turned back into her own. "Hello." Cloudpaw greeted not wanting to be rude. "Hello." The cat greeted.
    "Do you know who I am?" The cat whispered. "Um . . . no."
    The Golden cat snickered. "I am Goldenstripe. You're mother."
     Cloudpaw's eyes widened. "Oh my. . . you're actually here!" Cloudpaw exclaimed.
     Goldenstripe looked at her daughter with fondness.
    Cloudpaw wanted to ask her so many questions. Once her mind settled on one she opened her jaws to ask. But Goldenstripe yowled. Cloudpaw shrank.
    "I must go now."
   Suddenly the world swirled around her.
    "Be the cloud..." A voice whispered.
   "What?" Cloudpaw asked.
    "To block the sun. . . "
   Cloudpaw looked around.
   "You are the cloud who will block the sun from destroying all clans."

    "Wake up."
   Cloudpaw looked up to see Fireflame. Suddenly his tail fluffed up and his eyes filled with alarm.
    "What!" Cloudpaw exclaimed.
   "Your. . .  your eyes!" Fireflame.
    "What about them?" Cloudpaw whimpered.
    Lilacpaw joined him and her fur bristled too.
   "They're purple!"lilacpaw exclaimed.
    "No. More of a really pretty violet." Fireflame said.
   "Wait. They're turning back." Lilacpaw paw whispered. Cloudpaw stood up and tucked herself at Fireflame's eyes. "Let's not tell anyone about this." Cloudpaw confirmed.
   "Okay." Fireflame agreed. Lilacpaw nodded in agreement.
   "Come on we're beginning our training."

 
They arrived at the training hollow.
  Hollowtree and Polo were already there grooming themselves. Berrytail and Lilacpaw ran into the clearing. Cloudpaw followed Fireflame a little slower.
    "How about we practice fighting Meadowclan."Berrytail suggested.
   " Meadowclan warriors are sneaky and quick. And they're strong too."Fireflame explained. "How about we show an example. I'll be a Meadowclan and Berrytail is a Highclan warrior."
    Cloudpaw looked on at the two males.
   Fireflame hissed and ran at Berrytail. Before Berrytail had time to react, Fireflame slipped slipped beside him.  He batted Berrytail with his paws ,but Berrytail bit down on his paw and dragged him down.
     Fireflame fell to the ground and Berrytail stood over him. Berrytail purred and looked down. "I won."
   Fireflame hissed. "Of course. Meadowclan never wins."
    Fireflame and Berrytail began laughing.
    Berrytail let Fireflame up and they faced the apprentices. "Polo and Cloudpaw. How about you guys practice."
    Cloudpaw and Polo entered the clearing. "I'll be the Meadowclan." Polo said.
   Polo charged at her and she sprang back and she landed on his back. Polo fell and he looked up at her tail. "Let me up." He hissed.
    "Should I?" She said turning so that her face was facing his.
    Polo began squirming.
   She giggled and put her nose to his. He blushed and tried to move his nose but she kept hers on his. She laughed and jumped off.
     Lilacpaw and Polo had a try and Polo one this time.
    "Don't worry we'll practice more." Fireflame announced. "But let's get back home. Get something to eat and all that."
    The cats began to leave.
   Just as they were half way there Cloudpaw stopped. She heard and smelled something. What was it...
    "Guys do you smell that?" She asked.
    Fireflame stopped laughing at what Berrytail and they smelled the air.
   "Oh no! I smell a Fox's scent. It must be attacking us." Fireflame moaned. Berrytail looked at him.
    "It'll be alright." Berrytail mewed.
   Something flashed in his eyes.
    Cloudpaw just hoped it wasn't what she thought it was.

   Duh Duh Duuuuh. . .  Cliffhangers are my favorite. Anyway, a fox attack is happening on Highclan. Poor Fireflame. Too many memories. 😫 Well that's all for today. I think I found Jumpingpaw's warrior name but if you still have some suggestions send them to me and I will probably get second thoughts.
