Chapter - 9. The wolves

"Excuse me?" both of them said in unison.

"I don't know what you are talking about." Charlie protested.

"I know you guys are..." I lowered my voice and added in a hush, "Werewolves".

"Are you crazy? You are clearly out of your mind" Ruby protested.

"I heard you arguing at your house. You said that it was Charlie's first full moon and that she would've hurt me if it had been too late. That night I heard wolf howls. WOLF HOWLS!!!!" I repeated.

"So you think it was us?" Charlie asked.

"There was no other logical explanation," I said.

"So you thought that us being werewolves was the only 'logical' explanation?" Ruby asked.

"Yes. I also know that Charlie's pendant has something to do with it too" I replied.

"I think she knows too much. Bring her to the girl's room. I'll be waiting for you there." Ruby whispered to Charlie and left.

Charlie flashed a cheery smile and said, "I think you are confused. Why don't we talk somewhere else private? Like in the girl's room".

"Are you going to kill me?"I asked not knowing what else to expect. This is how girls get killed in horror movies and I don't want to be one of them.

Charlie chuckled sarcastically and said, "Yeah, like we don't have anything else to do". She started walking towards the girl's room. I followed her because I couldn't think of anything else.

When we were in the girl's room, Ruby and Charlie corned me and stood in front of me. "How do you know all this?" Ruby asked. "I told you. I heard you arguing and found out." I repeated.

"That is not what I asked and you know it," Ruby said like I was stalling instead of answering.

"I don't understand. I told you already. I heard you two yelling and I figured it out." I said.

"Don't try to act smart. How do you know about the necklace? How do you know that it was somehow connected?" Ruby asked as Charlie shook her head in agreement.

"You won't understand. I......." I was cut off by the memories again. I saw images in my mind along with a severely gruesome headache. I started to scream in pain. I dropped down to my knees and pressed the temples of my head with my palm. An unbearably loud noise began to fill my head.

At first, Ruby thought I was acting to get out of the mess and told me to stay quiet and answer her question but soon enough she realized that something was wrong with me.

This time was different. This time I was able to recollect more than just images and flashes. This time, I saw wolves, a whole pack of them about 12-15. They were circling a young girl like they were going to pounce on her all at once and rip her to shreds. But that was all; I blacked out before knowing what happened to the girl.

When I woke up this time, I wasn't in the hospital. I was in a strange place. There was no light; the walls were dark in color and I couldn't see anything clearly Except two faint figures which I guessed would be Ruby and Charlie.

"Where am I?" I asked them.

"It doesn't matter. Because you owe us an explanation. What the hell was that freak show that you put up in the girl's room?" Charlie snapped.

"I told you; You wouldn't understand," I said.

"Well, try us," Ruby said.

"Fine, I get these episodes. They are like images or flashes in someone else's memory that I keep recollecting. At first, I thought it was just because of the stress of moving into a new town, a new school. But now its more than that. I saw.....wolves" I replied.

"You saw what?" Ruby snapped.

"Wolves; a pack of them. They were circling a girl like they were all going to pounce on her and rip her to shreds and kill her." I repeated.

"How did this 'girl' look'?" Charlie asked me. "I only saw her back. I didn't get a good look. Because it is hard to get a good look when it feels like someone is bashing your brains in with a hammer. I thought it was nothing but this is the second time and I don't wish to ignore it. I have already seen a doctor and he said there was nothing physically wrong with me" I said.

"That is probably because there is nothing physically wrong with you. You are perfectly alright. In fact, you are more than alright; you are special." Ruby replied.

"Feeling like a hundred nails are getting hammered into my head during every second of an episode doesn't exactly scream special to me" I protested.

"I said you were special. I didn't say it was easy. From what I know, You are a reincarnation. You are seeing images of memories from your previous life." Ruby said.

"And how much do you exactly know?" I asked as I want not ready to believe her nonsense.

"A lot. I became a werewolf a lot earlier than Charlie and I Know a lot about the supernatural." Ruby replied.

"A lot of people are believed to be reincarnated but only very few will still have memories of their previous life. That kind of people are usually destined to do something that their previous life wasn't able to. No one would have this kind of ability unless it was really important to fulfill their destiny." Ruby added.

I didn't know whether to believe her or not.
