Chapter - 17. Blood

This is a nightmare. The thick dark crimson liquid reminded me a lot of.......blood.

I quickly glanced at Charlie's glass to make sure that this isn't something that all werewolves do. Thankfully, both Ruby's and Charlie's glass was filled with water. So not a werewolf thing.

I leaned toward Charlie and whispered, "What's that dark red liquid in those people's glasses?".

" Oh, that's blood. You know, our family is huge and one of my mothers sisters is married into a vampire family. So, now when we invite them, we have to serve blood. But don't worry it's not human blood. It's animal blood. Two parts cow, one part goat." Charlie explained.

"Ew, gross. If they know I'm human, will they try to drink from me?" I asked.

"I don't think so. But just to be safe, don't go anywhere alone with them." Charlie warned. A chill ran through my spine. "Hey, gotcha. I was just kidding. Relax, we're much more evolved than you think" Charlie added.

I couldn't let it go that easily. I keep it in my mind. For the first time, I had the taste of a royal lunch. The fact that I was the only human there was slightly terrifying. Anyway, after lunch, we decided to meet The Laqocis and return the frame.

We were asked to meet them at the Royal gallery. Ruby suggested that we could go there early and see all the paintings. I thought it was a good idea, so we left to see the paintings immediately after lunch.

The gallery's size was like 10 art exhibitions combined. The paintings were arranged from the newest to the oldest. We decided to see the old ones first.

The first couple of paintings looked the same. The next one read 1715 - Coronation of Queen DeVichiria Laqouci. She was a beautiful young women. And according to the paintings, she had accomplished a lot too.

"Hey guys, look at this picture. This women looks a lot like Kate." Yelled Ruby.

I walked over and witnessed the most startling coincidence of history. The woman didn't look like me....She was me. Just in a 1700s makeover.

"Hey look what it says." Said Charlie.

Zoe read out loudly, "Queen Ethilyn of Ardelia and Queen DeVichiria of Port Blorenge."

"No way." Ruby exclaimed. My heart sank to my stomach. This is inhuman. Reincarnation, resurrection, it's all inhuman.

"You think Kate might be her reincarnation?" Charlie questioned.

"Perhaps" Zoe answered.

"This is madness guys. This can't be possible. Is it?" I doubted. Praying for all if this to be a dream, I pinched myself.

"Maybe. This makes sense. If you are Ethilyn, then the frame logically belongs to you. Then you gift it to Blorenge, then you die mysteriously. Then Charlie or I die too?" Ruby came up with a crazy logic.

Suddenly, there I felt a sharp pain in my head, where I got the stitches. Then it drifted to my whole head instead of just the stitches. Oh, not again. I think I'm having another episode.

This time I blacked out instantly. But I didn't see anything yet. I closed my eyes. I could feel grass on my feet. I shot open my eyes and found myself in the woods. I tried to run but I couldn't. It was as if I was on a treadmill.

Suddenly, i saw a girl running. She stood right in front of me but didn't seem to notice me. She spun around slowly. In no time, a pack of wolves appeared.

I know this, I've seen this somewhere. This was my previous episode. The one I couldn't really figure out. Then I remembered, the wolves were going to pounce on her, they were circling the girl. Is she going to die?

The wolves kept circling her for a few minutes. I didn't move I stood there and watched it all happen.

The girl slowly started to move. I thought the movement would alert the wolves and encourage them to pounce on her. But I was wrong.

The wolves weren't going to kill her. They were protecting her. Suddenly, I could hear chanting. I couldn't figure out the language. I wasn't able to see who was chanting either. But whoever it was, that person is the bad guy here. The wolves were protecting the girl against that man.

I sudden pain in my head, forced me back to reality. NO!! I have to see who the person was. This is a warning. I didn't know from was a warning. I had to stay away from that person. I slowly opened my eyes.

Apparently, we were still in the gallery. So, mustn't have been out for long.

"How long was i out?" I asked.

"Couple of minutes" Zoe answered.

"Guys, I was wrong. The wolves were trying to protect the girl. The real bad guy wasn't a wolf." I said.

"Do you mean your previous vision?" Ruby asked.

"Yes. But I didn't see his face. It was a man. He was chanting something. He was probably trying to harm the girl. The wolves were protecting her. I feel like this is some kind of warning from....Ethilyn. Maybe, After all I'm her reincarnation." I replied.

"Do you think Ethilyn is trying to make us keep the frame and not return it? Or maybe she could've meant the guy who almost killed you" Charlie said.

"Maybe. Zoe I need to go back. Teach me how to go back. I need to know the truth before its too late." I said.

"I will. But do you think we should return the frame. Maybe the frame was the reason, Ethilyn died in the first place. Maybe, her palace was warded and getting rid of the frame caused her death" Zoe proposed.

"Maybe. But, I think we should return it. I will still be in this palace. And what about my house, the frame was there but someone still tried to kill me." I said.

"Maybe that's the thing. Maybe, the killer wasn't after you. What if he was after Ethilyn. You look just like her. The witches and vampires are immortal. They might've mistook you for Ethilyn." Zoe answered. I shrugged.

"So do you think Ethilyn was killed in the first place?" I asked.
