Damien's P.O.V.
"Ok, so I am officially confused," I say.
"About what?" Dimitri asks.
"I believe everything is crystal clear. The facts are right in front of you," Alagretto says smartly.
"I don't wanna hear you say that, moonbutt. Not after your stunt this morning," Aly says, staring in deep though out the window., Probably about when she first meet Riza, I mean Theresa. Ugh, I didn't know what to call her now.
We are in the Tahoe driving to the airport. The money from Riza's mom's purse was enough for all of us to have a ticket. Her parents sure were rich.
"So, what really happened?" I ask. Aly lifts up her head, wide-eyed, then drops it back down. So much for the story.
"When we were kids, Aly and I went to the same school. Same class actually. We were the best of friends and always did everything together. When we were alone one day, I breathed fire. Aly saw me burn down most of the playground. I thought she was afraid of me and I ran home. I told my parents and we planned to leave the next day," Riza says, She takes a deep breath, never taking her eyes off the road. "That nest day, Aly came by and told me she would never tell anyone. My parents shooed me away from her and drove off. When I turned around, I saw Aly blow a breath and it knocked over a tree. When I moved, I kept hoping I would get to see Aly again..."
"And I kept hoping to see Theresa again," Aly cuts Riza off. "When my family was killed and I met Riza, I thought she was Theresa. When she said to call me Riza, I blew the thought of her being my old best friend away from my mind. When Riza said it was my fault that they had to move, I blamed myself. When we were kids and you left, I locked my self in my room. Kids from school would come to visit me and such, but all I wished for was that Theresa would visit me. I became home-schooled and never left the house until the government came to get me." Aly had such a sad look on her face.
"Ok, I got it now," I say happily.
"Well, I didn't want to hear the sob story," Alagretto says. I think Riza thought about hitting him, but brushed him off. He got lucky that time.
"So what should I call you? Riza or Theresa," I ask Riza.
"You know what my name is," she responds.
"That's not..." I protest.
"Just call her Riza, you moron," Dimitri says, irritated.
Aly's P.O.V.
I can't believe I didn't recognize my own best friend. I guess that all those years wholed up in my room, I didn't really see much of anything.
The plane ride was as slow as it could get. We had to sit in pairs of two, so Riza and Alagretto sat next to each other. Whenever Alagretto tried to put his arm around Riza to comfort her, Riza would give him the cold shoulder, and the last time he did it, she almost threw him off the plane literally. She opened the emergency exit and threatened to make him jump. The flight attendants tried unsuccessfully to stop her, so I had to go up there and throw Alagretto into his seat and talk Riza out of chocking him with the seat belt. It took some time, but Riza finally apologized.
Damien sat next to Cleo, and at first Cleo did not want to sit by him. So Damien reached into his bag and got out a silver crystal and handed it to her. Cleo started blushing and her whole body turned red. I didn't think he was proposing to her... Cleo accepted it and Damien had to convince her that he was not trying to marry her, but Cleo was too busy on Cloud Shwiney to pay attention.
I sat down next to Dimitri. It was too tiring to kept the group on one accord. I felt like their mother. I leaned my head against Dimitri's shoulder and he kissed my forehead. Then I kissed him back and drifted off to sleep. This whole family was as chaotic as I don't know what but I liked it somehow.
Dimitri's P.O.V.
I had to wake Alison up again and this time instead of a smack across the face, I got a punch in my gut. I'm never waking her up again.
~A FEW HOURS LATER~
We are on a hiking trip towards the place we will be staying. This sucks, climbing up hills is no easy feat. We don't have water and I was too tired to mimic. Alagretto was too tired to even try and move his arms. As soon as we get to the top, there is a large river. I think it's the Amazon thing. A native man sees us and waves, only to slip and fall into the river. He busted his knee and the blood forms a puddle around him. Alagretto and Damien rush to help him, only to get pulled back by Aly's air.
"Hey! What gives?" Damien calls.
"It's to late. He's a goner," Aly responds. We all turn around to see a skeleton and a trail of piranhas going down the river.
"See, if you had jumped in, the man's blood scent would've gotten on you and I can't stand to lose anymore friends," Aly says, walking away. Everyone else follows.
"I think Aly is becoming distant," Damien whispers to Alagretto. He nods in approval. Aly looked away. I didn't think she was. I just thought she needed some time alone to get everything through her head...
