As soon as Harry had met Malfoy he instantly had an urge. He hated him but he felt a slight thud in his heart every time the blonde walked past. Even when they were fighting Harry held himself back.
The boy was perfect for Merlins sake and Harry couldn't help but daydream about what they could be. He wanted them to be friends, maybe more, but it was very obvious Malfoy wanted the complete opposite.
At least that's what Harry thought.
In potions, Harry had had his usual bullying from both professor Snape and Draco's tough, 'guard' looking friends Crabbe and Goyle. Draco, however, kept quiet, almost too quiet. He only answered to questions every so often or asked Snape about the potion he was brewing.
Harry wanted to question Hermione or Ron on it but thought better of it as they both didn't know Harry had a terrible crush on Draco, and Draco had insulted his friends many times from calling Hermione a 'mudblood' to insulting Ron and the Weasley family on countless occasions.
He thought his friends would go mad if they knew and Fred and George would use it to torment Harry and joke around. He could imagine it...
"Look who it is?" Fred chuckled, winking at harry.
"Yeah, lover boy, who's that sweet blondie" George replied laughing and nudging Harry's shoulder.
"OI MALFOY!" Ron yelled grabbing onto Harry. Harry however escaped and ran far.
He did not need that type of humiliation, especially since Draco wanted harry dead. Lately though when Harry passed Draco in the halls or saw him in the great hall at lunch he'd smile ever so slightly. He sometimes noticed him give a faint smile back but he thought he was just imagining it and continued to avoid the boy.
Back in the Gryffindor common room, Hermione sat by the window with her books sprawled across multiple tables. Ron sat with his tongue stuck out as he concentrated on his homework for professor Snape. Harry however sat by the fire ignoring his essay he had to write for History and his brain drifted to Draco.
He hated the fact that all he could think about was him, especially when quidditch season would be starting when everybody finished their O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts and Harry needed to start revising and practice for matches.
Draco was not helping... He needed to tell somebody soon.
As if Hermione had read Harry's mind she shot him a glance over her book, put it down with a thud and made her way towards Harry. "Harry...are you okay?" She asked quiet enough so Ron wouldn't interfere. "You just seem a little off and I wanted to know what was on your mind"
Harry began to sweat and his hands trembled.
"I have something important to tell you" he didn't even notice his stutter, Hermiones face was plastered with a mixture of confusion and concern. "I don't want you to be mad"
Hermione nodded softly and decided to take a seat next to Harry. "So, this is about a certain somebody" Harry shuffled awkwardly in his seat and waited for a moment, preparing to tell Hermione with the truth. "I like" he coughed, chocking almost "I like Draco Malfoy"
She scoffed. " Oh come on Harry that was easy to guess! Ron and I have been betting on it and now he owes me 10 galleons"
Harry sat there, mouth gawping, more at the fact they bet on him than anything else. "You bet on me? So you're okay with it?" Harry asked. "Yes Harry, of course I'm okay with it. Ron will also be completely fine with it and to be honest, you should try talking to Malfoy. Ask him out"
Harry laughed very sarcastically. "Yes Hermione, are you trying to get me killed?" Harry put his hands on his face and sighed, Hermione then placed a hand on his back and made soothing circles. "You'll be okay, just try. Send him an owl".
