Everything seemed so different now that they have arrived at the safe heaven. You had a lot time think of what has happened and what will have happen in the future. The evening you have arrived all of you have started to build new huts and a big stone. On that stone you've written all the names of the loved missed and the ones who left their life to make this possible for everyone.

You were standing at the beach reviewing the last few days as Aris walked up next to you looking at the ocean just like you did. Sometimes you would glance at him but quickly look away again. What you don't see is that he is gazing at you as well.

After quite some time he broke the slight comfortable silence and turned to you with a small smile plastered on his face. " hey Darcee I need to talk to you about something. Would you mind going on a little walk with me" he asked you. Little nervousness is evident in your voice which made you smile a small smile. " of course. Yeah sure let's walk a little" he grabbed your hand and pulled you with him down the beach.

As you two reached a rather quiet place you set down on a cliff and he sat down next to you grabbing your hand again. " Darcee I know something is bothering you. I've known you way too long, you can't fool me anymore. Please tell me why you have been so distant lately" he pleads you to open up to him. You only shake your head not wanting to tell him what's eating you from the inside.

You can't tell him what you feel. What you feel for him. Ever since you've first seen him. You can't tell him that you miss Newt. Your best friend ever since the maze. You know you probably should tell him but you just can't. It would just open old wounds. Without you knowing he's wrapped an arm around your shoulder a slightly pulled you into him as he saw the tears streaming down your face. Even with your face stained with tears he thought you were the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. And he had lived with many girls in the maze.

He softly wiped away your tears with his finger and gently turned your face to him so you have to look him right in the eyes. Those beautiful eyes. ' okay. One day I have to tell him. So it's now or never.' You thought to yourself. " it's about Newt" you tell him. He looks at you confused and with something else hidden in his eyes. But you couldn't make out what it is. " I miss him. A lot. He was my best friend back in the maze. He was always there for me. He always protected me from everything and everyone " you keep on telling him with a slight smile forming its way onto your face. " I remember the good things that have happened and the bad one's and it's killing me that he isn't here with us. Like Rachel Teresa and so many other people like us. Even though Teresa used to be on the wrong side. On WCKD's side. She still returned back to ours so she deserved to be here. Like everyone else who had to die" the tears were now getting more and more and he looked at you shocked.

He didn't know that this was bugging you that much. He kept his arms around you and pulled you closer. Then you stared talking again " but I also remember the good things you and I were going through. And I don't think that I ever thanked you for saving me from those cranks. For keeping me alive and the good memories we have made since we got to know each other in the scorch. Even if it wasn't the best way to get to know each other" you state with a small smile on your face. He also had a small smile on his face.

" Darcee there's something I need to tell you" he blurted out. You nodded your head to tell him to go on. So he gave himself a little jerk. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. You look at him confused. The he takes both of your hands into his locks eyes with you and says " Darcee. I love you and I have loved you for quite some time now. To be exact. I loved you from the first moment I laid my eyes on you. You were so beautiful even though you looked broken. So I made myself a promise. I would protect you matter what. And everytime you would walk with Newt I felt those little like someone was stabbing me. I was jealous. But as I saw him how much he meant to you I only felt sad. But the thing is I'm glad you and him were friends. Because he always took care of you. He always helped you. And if it wasn't for him I never would've told you this. So i guess I have to thank him for that. I just needed to tell you this before it is too late".

You look at him shocked with your mouth agape. But after you realised what he just told you you couldn't contain your laughter anymore. You were so happy you wrapped your arms around him and kissed him gently on the lips. He looked back at you surprised but soon wrapped his arms around you too and kissed you back. After some time you pull away again and say " I love you too. Aris. For a very long time". This time he leaned in and kissed you.

As you pull away again you both look up Into the sky only to see that it had gotten dark. You haven't noticed until now. You both had the biggest smiles on your face as you've ever imagined. From far away you heard someone call your name. You looked down to see your older brother Frypan standing there looking worried. You quietly laugh grab Aris' hand and walk down with him to your brother. As he saw your hands he only smiled and patted Aris on the shoulder and have you a knowing smile before you walked back to camp. Happy for the first time in months.
