With TMNT, A Lot Can Happen (TMNT 2012 One-Shots)

'Go The Distance' (Leo Songfic)

Leo is sent by his Sensei, on a solo mission; to answer the question, of why he made his eldest son the leader of his other younger brothers, even though they don't cooperate with him (for the most part.)

As he is out on his own, he starts doubting himself on the matter, and then starts singing 'Go the Distance' from Disney's Hercules.

At the end, he ends up at your apartment rooftop, where you hear him and his (wonderful!) singing.

"Do you have everything that you may need, my son?" Master Splinter asked his eldest son, Leonardo, as he was packing all of his necessary mission essentials at the front entryway of the turtles' underground lair.

Leo nodded, as he was very focused with his preparations, "Hai Sensei."

He then got back onto his own two feet, just as his younger brothers came up with their father, to bid him off farewell;

"Be careful out there, bro. Okay?" Mikey asked him, a hand on his shoulder.

Leo smiled back in a reassuring reply, "Don't worry Mikey, I will."

"You sure you have everything you need out there, Leo?" Donnie then asked him, pointing towards the blue-masked turtle's pack.

Leo then nodded with a thumbs-up, "Sure do, Donnie. Thanks for asking." Donnie smiled back in response, as well.

Raph's hand was then on Leo's shoulder, "Take care of yourself out there, Leo." he then leaned into his ear with a smirk, "Only cuz, I don't know if I'd be able to handle those two without you."

Leo chuckled a bit in reply, agreeing, "I will, Raph."

His father then looked towards his eldest, a big fatherly smile gracing his face, "Remember your training, and important mission, Leonardo. And, come back home safely."

Leo bowed towards his father, and sensei, respectively, "Hai Sensei." before finally taking off.

Completely not expecting, of what was to come his way.

Leo was just on one of the tallest rooftops of the entire city, and staring up into the starry heavens above, thinking.

'What exactly did Master Splinter send me out here to do? And, what does this have to do with my training?' he thought to himself at one point.

Could it have to do, with his important role as leader, and being able to be the best leader that he can be? Without the Captain Ryan 'influence', to tell him that? He thought about it some more, slowly travelling along the rooftops now.

"If Sensei really wants me to be a better leader," Leo spoke to himself, in a low thoughtful voice, "then, I need to find out for myself, the next step, I guess. But, what is that next step?"

This new question flooded his mind, as well as this one song, from this movie that he and his brothers got to see the other night; Hercules.

I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me

{Leo walks the edge of the rooftop he is currently on, and stares up at the night sky}

Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face

And a voice keeps saying, this is where I'm meant to be
