Is all the pain that you had to endure really worth letting out on someone else?

Golden eyes watched as the smoke began to rise in the field. We were lucky enough to lure this girl out of the city. She was a hard one to even talk to without her suspecting that we were hunting her down.

Even from my distance, I could tell she was breathing hard. Robin was doing everything she could to keep her bounded in the smoke. There was nowhere for the girl to run off to once the circle is finished.

Wings bursted from my back as I came into the field. The girl was screaming out for help, but it was deaf to the outside world. She was stuck here with the both of us.

Just from listening to her screams, I could tell that she was a novice in the mage ranks. Even if that were to be the case, I wasn't going to let her off the hook. She's just another menace in my eyes.

Sparks popped into the field. That little dark girl must have tried to fight Robin away in order to protect herself. Shades of black flew past me. Robin is already ready to kill her.

"What do you want from me?!" The girl screamed. "Are you one of the clanless!?"

Clanless? What in the world does she mean?

"I'm not.." The hesitation in her voice soon became obvious. "I'm not afraid! I'll accept your duel, so come out and stop hiding behind your stupid effects!" My eyes became slits as my presence became obvious to her.

She let out a gasp and took a step back. Just by staring down at her, she was so young that she must have ranged around a young teenager. She chose the wrong path from the start.

Another spark came from her hand when I was lost in my thought. I snatched her wrist before another action could take place. Her hazel eyes revealed all of the fear that ran through her body. I could have pitied her if she was just a normal person.

Snapping her wrist out of place, she audibly flinched. She tried to use her other hand to repel me away, but her eyes were too focused on mine. "You're.. You're who they were talking about."

I didn't understand at first, but when I did, my grip on her wrist was deathly. "You're talking about Seth, aren't you?" I hissed. "What did he tell you!?"

"Seth..?" She stared at me for a long second until she shook her head. "No! He's just another clanless!"

Seth is a clanless mage? The last time that we even saw each other, he was incredibly organized and pretty much too smart for his own good. He was slick. He wouldn't be alone.

"I swear, it's not him!" This intrigued me. A whole new faction of mages were upon this world? This became so much bigger than it should have. I needed to know more.

From the corner of my eye, Robin was ready to strike until my golden eyes flashed her way. She hesitated for a second until she nodded, standing back. My eyes turned their attention back to the smaller girl before letting out a sigh.

This girl could be useful for the information that she knows, despite being so young. For the knowledge that she knows, she wouldn't be persuaded so easily, but we'll see. A few tinkers in the mind hasn't hurt anybody yet.

The girl turned to look over her shoulder to find if Robin was out there. "We're not going to kill you." My tone dripped with venom. "But that doesn't mean we will not hesitate to hurt you." My eyes shifted to where Robin was standing.

"Then.. What are you going to do?

"We're going to question you." The young girl blinked in surprise, but she immediately accepted what I told her.
