"I feel like I've been reading though this for hours, but I just don't get it," I groaned into my phone, making Harry chuckle at the other end.
"Stop stressing, darling. You'll do just fine," he reassured me, his voice holding the usual happiness in it. It had been two weeks since the funeral. Two hard weeks, but also weeks of recovery. Harry was back on tour, but luckily he only had a few concerts left. I knew he was still sad, but by now he could smile again and that was all that mattered to me.
"How are you doing, babe?" I asked him, not wanting to talk about my upcoming exams anymore.
"I'm doing good," he said. "Really. It's good to be back on the road with the boys. The fans are great."
"Sounds great," I sighed. "I wish I could be there."
"Aw, are you missing me already?" He said, I could hear him grin through the phone.
"Nope," I lied. "Just tired of studying."
"Ouch," he mumbled, before laughing. "I miss you."
"I miss you more," I replied truthfully, my heart longing for him. "The only good thing about you not being here is that you can't distract me from studying!"
"True," he said. "I could think of a million ways to distract you right now."
"Is that so?" I answered with a smile on my face.
"You," he began, but was interrupted by someone talking in the background. "So sorry, Scar, I gotta run. The show starts in an hour and I still have to get my hair done."
"Alright," I said. "Let me know how the show went."
"I will, darling," he mumbled. "I love you."
"Love you, too."
With that he hung up the phone, leaving me in front of my books.
My finals were coming up and I was so scared of failing. Exams had always made me nervous, but my life depended on these finals. I studied management, hoping to get a good job in the future. I didn't want to depend on Harry too much. I needed my own money and a good job. It was all part of starting over. If I really wanted to leave my past behind, I needed to free myself from everything. A job. My own money. My own house and my own family."How was it?" Kaya asked me, as we walked out into the fresh air. My body was exhausted from writing my final exams.
"I think it went well," I said, it felt like somebody had lifted a huge weight off my chest.
"Same," my best friend replied. "Can you believe? We did it!"
"It's unreal," I sighed. "No more studying!!!"
"What would you say if we went home and ordered pizza?"
"I thought you'd never ask," I said, making my friend laugh."Oh yeah!" Harry screamed on the phone.
"Jeez," I laughed.
"I'm so proud of you, babe," he said, I could hear him smile through the phone. "Can't believe you're finally done with university!"
"Me too."
"My girlfriend is the startest woman in the world," he exclaimed.
"Are you drunk?" I questioned, chuckling.
"Drunk off you," he replied, his smirk audible.
"I guess that answers my question," I said. "I can't wait to see you."
"Me neither," my boyfriend said. "When I'm done touring, I will be spending all my time with you."
"You better," I replied.
