When I got back to the room, no one else was there. Although, there were notes on each of our beds, from the headmistress apparently; I hadn’t heard a lot about her, only that she was very strict and to be afraid of her. I hesitantly started to read the note:
Students, welcome to your first year at the academy! We have taken steps to ensure that you have a safe, welcoming environment to learn how to control your magic, as well as prepare for your future in the witching community.
At the end of your first year, you will eliminate three out of the six classes you currently take as a field to go into for the future (please note that Council Preparation cannot count as your future job since only the Council can decide if they want you in the Council or not). At the end of the second, you will narrow your choices down to two, and at the end of the third, you will finally make your choice on what you want to do as a witch. You will then graduate, and begin your life in the witching world as an adult.
The main goal of each and every one of you should be to make it to the competition for a spot on the Council. To do this, all you have to do is excel in all/most of your classes, as well as follow the rules (note that these will be listed below). Academics will be what gets you to the competition, and power will be what makes you come out as winner.
Students who follow the rules also have a greater chance of making it to the competition. But, to follow rules, you have to know them. Here are the most important school rules:
Girls and Boys are not allowed in one another’s dormitories and rooms, although relationships with other witches is allowed.
Vandalizing is not allowed
No cursing at teachers, although we have allowed you to curse; we know that as teenagers, you will curse.
Bullying is not tolerated, and bullies will quickly be expelled and sent to the Correction Facility.
You must follow any specific classroom rules that the teacher provides (note that all of these have been approved by the school).
Witches are not allowed to use magic outside of class (this is to secure your safety, since you do not know how to currently control your magic).
Make sure you have fun while you learn, as well! As you get older, you may look back on your years here as some of the best of your lives. I wish all of you good luck!
I snorted; no way did I want to be part of that B.S Council; to me, they sounded like bullies who pushed people around. I was not going to let anyone push me around. Also, I had no plans on not using my magic out of class; the whole reason I came to this academy (besides being forced) was to use my magic, and I was going to.
Plus, getting in trouble would lower my chances of being selected by the Council, which I wanted; I was going to do everything to avoid the Council. Only, I knew I had to be careful; I didn’t want to go overboard and end up going to the Correction Facility and become brainwashed.
I then decided to work on my homework. I eagerly flipped open my spell book first, flipping until I found something that interested me.
