The next few days were actually good. Chris and I talked a lot, and we managed to get over our argument. He realized that it was the wrong thing to do, and I realized that he did it out of love. I also realized that I would’ve probably done the same thing in his situation.

However, things took a turn for the worst on Thursday.

School had just ended, and I led Chris into my room. We hadn’t had sex in so long… I was ready. He pressed me against the wall, and I moaned against him as his lips trailed down my neck.

And, there was a knock at the door.

I groaned as he moved away from me. I opened the door, and Celeste was there. She smiled and said, “I have a letter for you from the Council.”

I took it from her, and said, “Thanks.” She looked past me, and smirked when she saw that Chris was leaning against the wall, shirtless, and drumming his fingers impatiently.

“Don’t stop on my account,” she teased, closing the door.

After she was gone, I muttered, “Sometimes she really pisses me off.”

He smirked. “She stopped sex. I hate her, too.”

I laughed. “This is why I love you.” I wrapped my arms around his neck, slowly kissing his neck, working my lips down his body.

“Aren’t you gonna open the letter?” he asked. I groaned, pulling away and pulling the envelope open. I pulled out the letter, and started to read:

Taylor, your overall progress was astounding to the Council. Your political knowledge was up to the standards of even those on our Council’s. Also, your magic was very powerful, and we noticed your progress with control. You have unbelievable powers, and your skills are sharpening are even strengthening. Although you have a lot more to learn magic and political wise, you are off to an amazing start! We have high expectations, and the plan is going more flawlessly than we anticipated.

However, we have one concern: the opinion you expressed on the “Bristol Act”, which occurred in 1987. It was a drastic act taken by the Council when a mini group, or “coven,” of witches in Bristol, Colorado. They started using the blood of humans and fellow witches in the city to perform dark and unsavory magic. The Bristol Act took the magic of everyone in Bristol away, including the witches not in the Coven. We decided to do this, because they had been exposed to the corrupt blood-magic, and were most likely going to become corrupt themselves. When we asked you about your stand on the issue, you said that you supported the decision to take the magic of those in the Coven, but you also said that you disagreed with taking the magic from the people in the city. We would like you to take a… different stand on that issue. And if not… we may have an issue with your boyfriend, Chris. It was brought to our attention that he got an A+ on his Potions and Spells project, when he usually gets solid B’s and C’s in that class. Through our investigating, we discovered that Chris got another student, Claire Reed, to do the assignment for him. We will turn a blind eye to the situation if you decide to change your opinion, and educate yourself on that issue with information that supports our views, and also do that with all future political stands you will take.

My nostrils flared in anger. I threw the paper to the ground, fury running through me. “DAMMIT!” I shouted, kicking the wall. I had never been so furious in my life. How dare they threaten me?! After all I did for them?!

“What is it, babe?” Chris demanded, starting to rub my shoulders, attempting to soothe me. I tried to calm myself.

I turned to him, shoving his hands off me. “Did you do it?”
