Chapter twenty-two

~Lexee's P.O.V~

I averted my gaze from him. Ethan plopped down in his seat as he dropped his school bag beside the desk.

I put the black hood of my hoodie over my head as my earbuds were still in my ears. The music was silently playing, blocking me out from the real word. I had my textbook underneath my arm and my pen in my right hand. I was writing down some notes from the board of the class.

I felt a few light taps on my shoulder coming from Ethan's side. I didn't even turn to look at him.

I felt a few taps again. And again. And again. And- OH MY GOD JUST STOP.

"What?" I snapped when I turned as I took out one earbud. Ethan had no expression on his face whatsoever.
"When are you leaving?" He asked me bluntly.
"Why does it matter?" I shot back with a question. Why would he just ignore me over the weekend and now all of a sudden wants to spark up a conversation?
"I guess it doesn't." He replies bluntly and puts his full attention to the teacher.

I rolled my eyes and continued to listen to my music.

[LUNCH]

"Again with the baby carrots?" Jade asked me as she sat down at our table with a tray full of goodies. I chuckled and nodded.
"Well obviously." I said and took a bite out of a baby carrot.
"You're literally eating a child of a full-grown carrot.  That's so cruel." Jade said as she ate a french fry. My nose let out a snort as I chuckled and we both bursted out in a fit of laughter.

The guys started coming towards our table that we usually sit at. Grayson pacing over faster than normally, leaving Ethan behind. Grayson rushed over to me, placed his food tray on the table and pulled me into a warm and tight hug.

"Why didn't you tell me that you'll be leaving us?" He said into my shoulder. I felt bad for not telling him. I wrapped my arms around him instantly.
"Please forgive me, Gray. I didn't tell anyone." I replied to his question and felt his breath fan over my neck. I knew he was anxious about me leaving.
"I'll miss you." He quietly said as if I'm leaving now, which I'm not. I started rubbing circles on his back, that's what relaxes him.
"Gray, calm down, I'm not leaving now." I said with a chuckle.
"I know, I just- I'm still gonna miss my bestie!" He says as we pull out of the hug.
"Ahem." Jade clears her throat when she hears the words 'my bestie'.
"I'll miss you too, now go to your girl dude." I told him and he rushed over to Jade and gave her a kiss on the cheek instantly.

They're so cute together. Wait, since when are they a real thing? Not my business.

I turned back in my seat normally again and ate another baby carrot. I could feel Ethan burning holes in me as he stares at me.

"Lexee, don't be like this." He quietly said to me as Grayson and Jade got caught up in their own conversation about whatever. I rolled my eyes at Ethan.
"I'm not the one who forgot about my existance the whole weekend. That was a low blow, Ethan." I stated and looked at his eyes as I said so. I could see the guilt and saddness in his eyes. Lexee, do not turn weak for his eyes.
"Look, Lexee, I'm sorry for what I did. I just needed to let some time pass. I wasn't processing the news right on the spot." He said with a frown to me as his eyes turned even more sad than they were before.
"That doesn't mean that you can just not even check up on me." I said, not looking at his eyes anymore.
"Lexee, I'm really sorry for what I did this weekend. I just needed to collect my thoughts." He said as he placed his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Lexee, do not give in.
"Ethan, I-" I tried to say but he cut me off.
"Please forgive me." He said quietly. I find myself already hugging him and my head laying on his chest. Damnit, Lexee.

"I'll for sure miss this." I said quietly into his chest as the soothing heart beat that belonged to my love calmed the chaos inside of me down.

"I'll for a fact miss you." He said and kissed the top of my head.
