"I love you, Monika." He said softly.

She began to stare deeply into his eyes and after a long pause she speaks, "I'm sorry but I don't think I'm in the right mood to accept confession, especially from someone who I haven't talked to for a long time."

Rejected, Yasuki beamed anyways, "I understand. I should be the one who's apologizing after all it has been eight years. Things change."

It was hard to accept the fact that Monika's current state is oblivious of the things that will endanger her. He proceeds to stay by her side and protect her from those obstacles. Knowing how the game works Yasuki decided that he would help Monika create the Literature Club. Therefore making him the Vice President and her the President.

Not before long a student name, Sayori comes by to visit the club. Yasuki can tell that it isn't something she is absolutely interested in yet she wanted to join anyways. Another student name Yuri comes by to see the club if it is relaxing enough for her to read books and not being bothered. She too decided to stay regardless of Sayori's unnecessary enthusiasm about literature. Although she does go back to being quiet after people ignore her long enough. Last but not least the following day after Yuri's arrival another student name Natsuki barges into the Literature Club, without explanatory reasons she immediately joins the club and demanded space in the closet for her books.

Oddly enough Yasuki tries to make Monika comprehend Natsuki's needs, as kind as she is she negotiated to create room for her. Despite having to deal with her sour attitude at all times she tries to make reasons but Sayori always ends up humoring Natsuki which turned out better than Monika expected.

The Literature Club is almost complete, all it is left is the protagonist. Yasuki is completely aware of everything that is going to happen, his obligation was to keep an eye on Monika until the festival comes.

When that day finally came, Sayori swings the door open, it caught everybody's attention even making Natsuki jumps out of the closet. All the girls gathered around him as Sayori introduced him to the club members. Yasuki crossed his arms and leaned against the wall listening to their conversation. Monika glanced over her shoulder to see him just glaring back at the commotion, she glanced away ignoring him. Yuri and Natsuki push the desk around to form a table, Sayori tries to get to cupcakes but Natsuki stormed into the closet faster than she did.

"You can sit next to me or Monika!" Said Sayori.

The protagonist looked hesitant, to decide for him Yasuki takes the seat next to Monika. Fortunately, that took away the awkwardness, so the protagonist went ahead and sit next to Sayori. Monika pout at Yasuki, he shrugged as he smiled.

Natsuki put the tray at the center of the desk-formed table and opens the foil. There were a dozen white fluffy cupcakes that were decorated to look like little cats. Everybody takes turns grabbing one cupcake, Sayori grabs one then Monika, and then the protagonist. Natsuki is somehow distracted by the boy who is about to eat her handmade cupcakes.

"Aren't you going to grab one?" Monika asked.

Yasuki shook his head. "I'm not really into sweets."

Offended Natsuki smacks the table with both hands. "Are you saying you don't like my cupcakes?!"

"N-no, I do like them. I think that they're really... nice." Yasuki almost used the word cute to trigger her even more especially when Monika is listening.

"At least know how to appreciate the things that are being done. Plus the fact that I am the one who baked these cupcakes while you have no experiences in creating such delightful sweets." Natsuki rambles.

"I understand. I'll have at least one if that makes you happy." Yasuki grabs one cupcake from the tray.

Natsuki crossed her arms pouting away from his direction. After the meeting ends everybody began packing their bags and heads home. Sayori and the protagonist got together and walked home like how they used to years ago. Yasuki smiled it gave him a nostalgic feeling, their childhood days were almost just normal. Then he glanced over to Monika where she stares out the window looking down at the happy moment Sayori is having.

"Aren't you going to go?" Yasuki asked.

"Not yet, I wanna stay here for a while." Monika didn't turn toward him, just her voice bouncing off the windowpane.

"Alright, I'll wait for you at the gates then." Yasuki left her in the club room.

With nobody around, he walks into the boy's bathroom. There he put down his school bag and put his finger into his mouth reaching for his throat. He successfully manages to puke out the cupcake that he had eaten back at the meeting. Yasuki turns on the water at the sink and washes his mouth. Turning the faucet off he pant, looking at himself through the mirror.

"I must be a horrible person to be able to do things like this. Sorry, Natsuki but the cupcake taste like nothing to me." Yasuki grabs his school bag and proceeds his way to the school gate.
