Unnoticed by others, lost within the fear of his own creation. Like a shadow traveling beneath other shadows. Then she came along and pulled him toward the light. Her name is Maki, a girl that is programmed to be fearless. She accepted him and his appearance. Since then he's been following her around.
"Hey, you want to go play at a park?" Maki asked the shadow.
It didn't respond to her, yet she still insist to go anyways. So the shadow followed her to the park. She joyfully climbed the monkey bars as he stood there watching her from the distance.
"Come over here!" She shouted. "Climb with me!"
The shadow went toward the monkey bar, it looked down to see that he has no limbs. He forcefully formed two small arms at the sides. Weakly he would try to reach for the bars, but he couldn't. Maki leaps down and gives him a huge grin. "Let's not climb if you can't." She turns toward a random direction and points at the swings. "How about you push me with your cute little arms?"
The shadow nods.

"So, where or when did you meet that friend of yours?" Monika questioned.
"Mmm." Maki looks up at her. "When I met him he was sleeping next to a dumpster. Ever since then he's been following me." Maki gazed at the shadow, it gazed back at her.
"Does your friend have a name?" Monika wondered.
She shook her head. "Even if he does have a name he wouldn't even bother to tell me. He's extremely dismissive when mentioning things about himself."
Monika beamed. "I see, well I guess we all want to keep our privacy, so I understand."
Maki smiled back at her. "Do you believe in doppelgangers?"
"Heh? Where did that come from?"
"Nowhere, just wondering." She grabs Monika's hand. "Because I believe that they're real."
"Doppelgangers?" Seeing Maki's yellow eyes really reminded her of Yasuki's eyes. "I do believe that it's a real thing, in fact there's a thing called twins. It can be considered as doppelgangers but not exactly the fact."
"Well then. What if I say that Yasuki has a doppelganger? Would you believe that?" Maki grin.
"You're talking nonsense. He does not--"
"--But it's true." Maki's eyes becomes dull as the childish tone of her voice becomes serious. "I went to see Yasuki today, and he looks just like the Yasuki that disappeared four years ago. However, the only difference that I noticed is he's really aggressive."
"Why would he be?" Then Monika noticed. "Wait, how did you know that Yasuki disappeared four years ago?"
"My friend told me. And after all you're still living inside a game. Your history is recorded in a script. Anything from there I can understand." With a swift breeze something suddenly smack the back of Maki's head. "Ow! I'm sorry!"
Monika felt the breeze. "Did something hit you?"
"I, I hit myself!"
"It's hard to believe that you can hit the back of your head harshly with your own hands." Monika gazed around the streets. "Your friend is still not showing themselves, huh?"
"Yeah, he's really shy." She start poking the air with her elbow. "She might like you back."
Confused Monika proceed to walk to Yasuki's house. By Natsuki's direction it kind of felt like a riddle she had to solved in order to reach the destination, since she haven't visit his house before. Although, thinking again it was pretty weird how the two of them continued to stay as roommate for the pass four years.
