CHAPTER 2
Eventually the class finished and the papers in front of Jace and I were full of notes.
I stacked up my book and got out of my chair getting ready to leave the room and get as far away from Jace as I could, but failed.
"Wait," he said.
I couldn't help but huff in annoyance but turned around anyway, "yes?"
He got out from his seat, folding his piece of paper and shoving it into his jeans pocket along with his pen. "Aren't we going to sort out a time which we can meet up and finish the assignment?"
Of course he'd wanted to do that. "We can't meet up at my house," I instantly told him.
Jace didn't ask any questions and I was grateful for that because instead he said, "that's fine. We can go to my house on Tuesday after school."
I knew I needed to refuse but it was obvious he was going to win the little argument like last time. All I needed to remember was that it was only for three weeks and once this assignment was over we could go back to normal.
"Alright. Tuesday," I agreed.
I watched Jace's eyes light up. "Really?" He asked.
I nodded my head, "really."
He smiled a full teeth smile and I turned around leaving him behind me and walking out of the classroom.
Arriving at my locker, the corridors were now almost empty except for the few students just hanging around. I slipped my books in and took out the ones which I'd needed to do homework with.
Hoisting up my bag onto my shoulders, I closed the locker door and headed outside.
I stood under the verandah and looked up to the dark grey, depressing sky. Larger clouds floated above and around the school for as far as the eye could see making me grimace. Pulling my jacket around me tighter I then started on my long journey home, the wind whipping at me,my losing my hair in front of my face and in my mouth.
It was about a thirty minute walk from the school to my house but it was a nice walk and I never had any complaints about it. I walked passed some shops picking up some groceries and then before I knew was on the outskirts of town near where I lived.
Coming to the large gates that were outside my house, I slipped through them and made my hike up my long driveway to my front door. As soon as I unlocked the door and stepped inside the rain immediately started to fall down in buckets from the dark clouds which I constantly had my eyes on.
I put backpack down along with my boots next the door and went into my large kitchen putting the food I picked up into the fridge and cupboards and taking out the ingredients I'd need to make a sandwich. Once I finished I cleaned up my mess, took my plate in my hand, grabbed my shoes and bag from the door and was on my way upstairs into my bedroom.
Eating my sandwich while getting my books out from my bag, I sat down at my desk and got straight to work on studying for an upcoming test that I had and I already knew I was going to fail.
I opened to the book, glanced at it and already felt the headache coming on. Math was a language I did not understand and didn't want to learn it. But if I wanted to graduate, it was a must.
Two sandwiches and four hours later I had finally finished everything I needed to do. The house was still as quiet when I first came in, the only difference was that it was darker, colder and scarier. Living in such a big house by yourself most of the time was scary and having the wind whipping at the trees and my windows didn't make me feel any better.
