Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson or any of the characters from the series no matter how much I wish I did. I'm not going to say this at the start of every single section so just remember that I said it now.

The waves wash over my head as I run into the sea. I sprint past the waves, past the sandbar, past the shallows filled with tiny fish. I race through patches of dappled sunlight, my feet churning up sand in the water behind me.

After running for what feels like ages, my pace slows to a walk as fish the size of my hand dart around me. I crouch and put my head in my hands. It's all my fault. My tears cloud my vision then dissolve into the water. After rolling backward and lying on the sea floor, fish begin to swim through my hair, slicing apart the tangled mess it had become. Sunlight shimmers across my face as the water projects light onto the sea floor, creating an intricate pattern on the sand. The water carries my thoughts away and I drift into unconsciousness.

Darkness has swallowed my picturesque surroundings. The crescent moon provides just enough light to see your hand in front of your face. It's as though the world is playing hide and seek.

I get up and trudge along the sand, heading towards camp half-blood.

I don't want to go back. When did camp stop being home? I can't remember. It hasn't felt like home for a while.

Memories of the last few days surface as I wander along the seabed. I desperately try to push them from my thoughts, but my mind is soon consumed by the past.

I summoned Riptide to my hand. Why in Hades did chimeras have to breathe fire?! I ran into the forest, the chimera charging in behind me.

Bad idea. As soon as it saw the trees, the chimera ran around setting trees alight and generally making a nuisance of itself. I leapt out from behind a tree as flames burnt straight through the trunk and it fell sideways, barely missing me.

The chimera followed me towards Zeus' fist. I leapt up onto a boulder and sprung off to the right as the chimera spotted me and its snake tail stuck out. I feinted to the left, then caught the snake's head with my blade and severed it from its body. The chimera growled and pounced at me as a short, chubby boy ran past me, squealing in terror. To be honest he looked and sounded like a pig with clothes on, teetering about on trotters.

The distraction was enough to draw the chimera's attention away from me. Eyes locked on the pig in clothes, the beast failed to notice me as I sprinted sideways and threw my sword with deadly accuracy, slicing through the remaining two heads. The chimera's body faded into golden dust, its claws inches away from the pig-boy's terrified face.

Some campers came running to see what had happened. I used my remaining strength to douse some of the flames with water before collapsing into a sitting position on the ground.

"Woah!" Jason exclaimed as he ran into the clearing.

"Sure had some action going on here! Why didn't you tell me?" He said worriedly, as he used his power over wind to put out the remaining flames.

"Percy, what happened?" Piper cried as she sprinted into the clearing.

"I was being chased by a chimera, how was I supposed to tell you?" I replied, exhausted.

"Surely you shouldn't be that tired after fighting one monster," Annabeth said with a smirk as she entered the clearing.

"I also had to help some kid," I said with a jab over my shoulder at the boy. "He proved for a useful distraction at the end though." The boy seemed to have recovered from his scare.

"Th- thank you!" He said as Jason helped him up.

"Y- you saved my life!" He cried.

"No biggie," I replied with a chuckle. After heaving myself up and dusting myself off, I noticed the holes in my shirt from rogue flames. Annabeth helped me awkwardly stumble back to my cabin as the sun began its descent behind the horizon.

"You did well, Percy," she said with a peck on the cheek. "At least you don't need to go to the infirmary this time."

"Who was that boy?" I asked when we arrived at the Poseidon's sea-green cabin.

"I think his name is Henry Larachel. He's new at camp, staying in the Hermes cabin for now."

"Ok" I replied, asleep on my feet.

"You go inside and get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow seaweed brain." She said with a kiss goodbye, before walking over to the Athena cabin and picking up a book beside the steps. I chuckled to myself and fell up the steps into my cabin, splashed my face with water, and dragged myself into bed.

That was the last good day, the calm before the storm.

Hey guys! This is my book, I hope you like it!

I'm also writing another book called "Touch". It's my own idea, not a fanfiction, and I'd really appreciate it if you could go and check it out!

Thank you!
