MADTOWN - Joohyeon [Buffy]

Glasses. Gelled back hair. Shirt ironed and tucked into my trousers. Always a book or five in my arms. Always looking down. I, am nerd. But only in school. Out of school I have scruffy parted hair, loose clothes, piercings, a necklace and a few rings. This, is the real me.

I started going to what the British call 'Secondary School'. I moved to London, England when I was 14, so I was put into 'Year 9'. Honestly, the bullying wasn't the worst part. It was the onlookers. They just stared, glad it wasn't them. But there was always one girl, a nerd like who I pretended to be, who always spoke to the bullies after. They would stop for about a week, then come back. My life through to year 11 was rough, but never once did I stop being a nerd.

Finally, it was Prom Night. Everyone but me and the other nerds had a date. I decided to show my true self - Bad Boy Buffy. I dressed in a midnight blue waistcoat, matching trousers and a blue tie. My shirt was tinted red, and my shoes were pure black. Scruffing my hair to its normal form, I put on cologne and picked up a black blazer, hanging it over my shoulder, checking myself in the mirror before leaving.

Upon arrival, everyone stared. "Who is that? Who's date is that? Do they go to our school?" People murmured. I smirked and headed to the food table, picking up a stick of cheese, pineapple and grape, eating it nonchalantly as people stared. The nerd girl who always spoke to the bullies after came up to me timidly. "Joo-Joohyeon.." She stuttered, everyone's eyes on her, their conversations silenced to hear her. "I-" "Joohyeon!" Someone shouted, pushing the nerd out of the way. I gave her a raised eyebrow, immediately recognising the Barbie of the school - Melina Browns. "I'm so shocked! I knew you were hot, but not this hot!" She flirted, biting her lip. "I'm already taken." I announced, bluffing through my teeth. "What?" She whipped around and advanced towards the nerd. "Did you already confess to him? You waited two years, why not one more day!" She yelled, going to push her. I put my hand out, shielding the nerd. "Who gave you the right to turn on my girl?" I asked, hoping the nerd would play along. "Your girl?" Melina screeched, stomping her heeled foot. "Yes. My girl. Is there an issue?" I challenged. "Yes! Prove it. Prove that you two are dating!" She dared. I hesitated before turning to the nerd, cupping her face and gently kissing her, whispering a quick apology as I moved away. "Want me to go further?" I smirked, knowing I'd won. Melina screamed and slapped me, hobbling away as fast as her heels would let her. I grabbed the nerds hand, pulling her out into the halls.

"I am so sorry! I didn't mean to - well, I obviously did - I didn't scare you, did I? I'm so sorr-" "It's fine. I've always helped you anyway, remember?" She said quietly. "And yet you never told me your name or why." I asked, tilting her head up to look at me. "I- I don't know. I hate seeing people get hurt, and when they punched you, I just - You did nothing wrong." She told me, avoiding my gaze. "I'm thankful. I really am. But what is your name?" I asked, her eyes flicking back to mine. "Selene. My name is Selene." She told me, my eyes widening. "That's so beautiful..." I whispered, staring at her beautiful green eyes. "It's a shame I'm not, huh?" She laughed sadly, pulling her face away from my hands. "No! You are beautiful, too. You helped me, when no one else did. To me, that's a beautiful person." I smiled gratefully, reaching to hold her hand. "And, if you'd like, you could perhaps finish your confession?" I grinned boyishly, seeing her blush. "Uhm.. that's not necessary.." She stammered. "Well then. I accept your confession. Selene, will you be my girlfriend?" I asked, cupping her cheek again. "Of course.." She whispered shyly, her eyes fluttering shut as I slowly leaned down to kiss her again.
