Judge's comments: The Mosaic is set in the 14th century and just its prologue is enough to draw you in. The deaths in this story are so tragically beautiful and the characters strong and witty. It has a great plot, an intriguing assassin and an interesting mix of words that showcase the brilliance of the writer. Kudos!
