The Confrontation.
As I said last night, I barely slept a wink. I couldn't forget what Caius told me and it's been clouding my mind like a broken cd. How dare he messes with my mind like that and he don't even seems to be bothered by it because the next morning, he acts so casually like he didn't say those mind shattering words last night to me.
And even if I try to ignore it, it's like my chest is being squeezed too tightly.
Now, every time our eyes met, I just can't help to withdraw and avoid some contact because it is giving this uncomfortable, awkward sensation. Like my stomach is being twisted.
Just like in our breakfast, I was like a broken robot, stuttering when he talks to me.
"I'll be meeting someone today who offered me 20 million cash if I can save his 5 year old daughter's life." Caius mentioned while wiping his mouth using a table napkin.
"W-why? What's wrong with his daughter?" I tried to act so calm.
"A face disorder. She has a huge tumour in her nose and it grew, it's almost as big as her face already, causing her face to disorient and I was been contacted to study her case and be the one to fix her." He stated, I know don't why he is sharing this to me but I'm glad he is.
"Can you do it?" I asked, clearing my throat.
"Once I see the kid and check the tumour myself, I could think of how to remove it." He told me.
"But that's a huge amount of money that they will give you, what's their background?" I wondered.
"A sultan."
I nearly choked the water that I was drinking. "You've been offered by the sultan?!" Woah, Caius must be the best of the best surgeon to be requested by the Sultan himself.
"Yes, and his daughter's health is at risk." He replied, "And I am telling you that, I will be busier this time than I used to before. But I will still make time if you plan to meet with your family again."
"Oh, yeah." I murmured. "I'm sure there will be no more family gatherings after that. Dad is a very busy man."
"I don't think so." Caius chuckled, clearing his throat.
My eyebrows touched at what he said. "Excuse me?"
"Your Father just called me earlier before you woke up." He mentioned, a wicked smile appeared on his face. "Saying that, he is throwing a celebration tomorrow night because of a charity event and the success of his new marketing company. He is inviting the both of us as a post birthday celebration as well and a welcome back party to you —if you only wanted to come."
Oh Dad.
I scratched my head and thought of something. "Do you want to come?"
"I can't see why not." He shrugged.
"Then you are agreeing to it? Does that mean you are ready to go out in public?" My eyes widens as I question himself as I think of the consequences if we agree.
"Why not? We don't have anything to hide anymore. I'm ready to face those bastards like your ex fiancé." He said, standing up from our table. "It's better to start and face them already, Shanaya. But the question here is you, will you face them?"
