3rd person POV
The bell rang indicating that Alex, her cousin, was there. He was going to stay with her for some months to look after her.
She went down to open the door and was soon engulfed in a bear hug.
"EMMA. You stink. Look at you! Even a ghost looks better then you. Jeez!" He exclaimed.
"Can-t- breathe!" She croaked out.
"Right.. sorry.. how are you?" He asked, concerned.
"Peachy." She answered with a sad smile.
He dropped his stuff in the floor and said, "Get ready. Go shower. We're going out for dinner"
She was ready to protest but he cut her off, "No buts, missy."
Huffing, she went to her room and took a long and relaxing shower. Afterwards she came out in a bath robe and entered her closet and started looking for clothes.
"Let me guess. You have nothing to wear." Alex said from behind her as she shrieked, startled and muttered curses at him for scaring her.
He moved her out of the way and entered her closet, as she waited. After a series of ewes, he finally found a sleeveless, knee lenght, blue dress and paired it with her white converse.
She came out and Alex looked at her hair and muttered, "Now we need to fix that birds nest." She sent him a sharp look and he cringed. Alex made her sit at the vanity, combed her hair and then blow dried it. Afterwards he started making two dutch braids when Emma interrupted him.
"Are you-" she started off.
"No! I'm not gay! These are the perks of having a bratty 14 year old sister." He answered the incomplete question. She chuckled and he was grateful that he could make her smile. After doing her two dutch braids, they both walked to the diner, that was 20 minutes away, in comfortable silence.
At the diner, Alex ordered a burger for himself and a stake for Emma, ignoring her protests. After eating and feeding Emma forcefully, they both sat in silence staring at each other.
"Emma, are you really up for that revenge shit? You know that's not you. Don't get into trouble, Emms. Don't lose yourself too, please. You are all we have. You're strong, don't lose hope. Don't go for revenge, you were never like that."
She gaped at him and processed all his words. "Who told you that?" She snapped.
"That's not important. Promise me, you won't do something crazy."
"I'll try." She sighed and smiled at how protective he was. They stared at each other for a while, when Alex broke the silence,
"Emma, I need to confess something. And I've been wanting to tell you this for sometime, but couldn't. It's really important. Think about it and just don't freak out, please."
Emma's thoughts were scattered, her heart beating wildly. What did he have to confess.
