The next day was a day of relief for Natsuki and Yuri. All their problems seemed to have disappeared and the book of misery seemed to have finally closed up. The girls spent the start of their school day in such pure happiness that neither seemed to remember the last time they felt such an emotion.

They rode in the car in pure peace.

"Hey, babe; Now that I think about it, our relationship has really gone a long way in such little time. We haven't been together long, but it feels like we have since forever. We sure have gone through a lot together, huh?"

"I guess we have. We've been in ups and downs in our relationship, but I guess that's the side effects of love."

"You sounded like a narrator on a drug commercial that talks about the many side effects in a really fast voice."

Yuri laughed. "I did, didn't I?"

"But you're right about the whole side effects of love. I've learned a lot from you, babe."

"And I've certainly learned from you too! I guess that's another side effect."

"That's true."

When they arrived, Yuri wrapped her arm around Natsuki's shoulders as they walked into the school. They felt that today was the day they could show the world their affection for one another; nothing seemed wrong with the world and they wanted to keep it that way.

They went through their regular morning routine, meeting friends, and morning classes. Everything seemed like it moved along so fast, which was strange because most classes seem like they take forever to end. They sat together at lunch, with Monika surprisingly joining them that day. For being one of the most popular girls in school, Monika had her sense of heart in use, nowadays, she didn't ignore her friends from the literature club as often.

Sayori just had to know what was going on with her. "Hey, Monika; I've noticed you haven't been around your other friends lately, is something wrong?"

"No, I just have felt bad that I haven't been paying enough attention to you guys, I've been leaving you guys out on a limb and I want to change that."

Sayori hugged Monika. "I'm glad to hear you say that. I really hoped you would come back to us, and now you have."

Yuri smiled. "Awww, life's sweet moments."

Natsuki looked up at Yuri. "Not as sweet as the girl I'm looking up to."

"Oh, come here, you!" Yuri kissed Natsuki on the forehead.

By the time club time rolled around, Natsuki and Yuri wanted to go someplace where it would be just the two of them.

"Hey, you guys, you mind if Yuri and I go outside for a while? Just the two of us?" Natsuki asked.

Monika sat up. "Of course! Take as much time as you want! But don't stay too long! We have classes after this!"

The pair walked out the main doors and sat on the bench in the front of the school.

"You know, babe, we've come a long way. I can't seem to process the fact that I used to hate you. Like, I legit used to hate you, but here we are."

"It might've been because we're polar opposites, Natsie, but that's what makes our relationship strong. We change as people because of each other, we learn from each other, causing a mild friendship, then love."

"I guess that's how this world supposedly works, creating love between two people who were never meant to fall in love."

"That's where karma will hit you hard. I know you used to hate me, you'd tell me that all the time, while I wanted to be your friend so bad. But as it turned out, you confessed your feelings to me first, then it all worked out from there."

"Karma has changed me as a person then."

"Yeah, it does that."

"Be honest, did you hate me too? Just a little?"

"I might've. It's been so long, I think love might've blinded me from the past."

"I see. Hell, I remember calling you really bad names in the past, now I feel awful for doing so."

"We all have things about ourselves we wish we could change, and maybe, we can start to change them now."

"Yeah, you're right. I'm not getting bullied here anymore, and I'm sure my father won't be planning on abusing me ever again any time soon!"

"Let's hope it stays that way, my love. Let's hope it stays like today for the rest of our lives together. Where it's just us, our love, with the side effects and all. Moments where we can learn from one another to make our love stronger than before, because I love you more than anything or anyone I ever loved before."

"Geez, babe. There you go with your fancy talk again."

Yuri blushed. "Sorry about that. I have a habit of getting rather carried away at times."

"No, it's okay. It's actually romantic. Especially right now."

"I guess you're right."

Natsuki checked the time. "Well, I guess we better go back inside."

"Yeah, back to reality."

They walked back inside, holding hands as they walked for everyone to see.

After school, they got back in Yuri's car for the drive home.

"You know, the dance is coming up," Natsuki started.

"Yes? And?"

"I think we should go! As a couple."

"Oh, Natsie. That's a sweet thought, but I've never been to a dance. Ever. I don't think I'd do well at one."

"Aw, c'mon! Don't say such things about yourself! You'll do great there! I think we should go as each other's dates. And remember what you kept saying about us learning from one another? Well, you'll get to learn from me! Because I've been to a few myself."

"I guess you're right."

"Well, we have those dresses we bought a few days ago, I'd think those would be formal enough!"

"That's a good idea. And I have several different makeup sets that I've never used. We can use them if you want."

"I never knew you were into makeup."

"I'm not, really. I've gotten those sets as birthday and Christmas presents in the past, and I've never used them."

"Well, should we go?"

Yuri sighed and smiled. "Yes, I believe we shall."

A/N

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed the chapter as much as I did!

Unfortunately, I'm writing only one more chapter after this one, and that'll be the end :(

But don't worry! I'll write other ddlc books too! An idea of mine was to write a Monika x Male! Reader one, so that will most likely be the next one!

-too-many-musicals- here's your tag!

Hope to see you soon!
