** Author's tip: listen to this song when the slow dancing part comes ;)**
Saturday evening finally arrived, it was the night of the dance. Yuri and Natsuki got out their dresses they bought a little while back. They quickly changed into the dresses and came back out to see how the other one looked in theirs.
Yuri's dress was black, with long, flowing, shoulder-less sleeves. The dress itself was flowing and loose fitted and fit a little below Yuri's knees. It fit Yuri perfectly.
Natsuki's dress was a pastel yellow with white, lace trim around the neck, armholes, and around the bottom. The dress was more of a poofy look, but it certainly suited Natsuki well.
They looked at each other in their dresses.
"Wow, babe. That fits you so well, both in shape and style."
"Thank you, Natsie. You look very cute in yours."
Natsuki stomped her foot. "I'm not cute!"
Yuri laughed. "There's the little tsundere I know."
Next, they helped each other with hair. Natsuki put Yuri's hair in a messy bun with strands of her long, purple hair down from the sides. It surprisingly looked more formal than Yuri expected, and went well with her dress. Yuri simply left Natsuki's hair down, but curled it towards the bottom.
"I'm still not convinced that you've never done this before, babe."
"I was only lucky to get it looking good on the first try."
Finally, they did makeup. Yuri's makeup was a more natural look: brown lipstick with darker brown eyeshadow, natural looking mascara, a touch of light tan blush, and a little eyeliner. On the other hand, Natsuki's makeup was a more classic feminine look: red lipstick, pink blush, bold mascara, pink eyeshadow, and eyeliner.
As they headed out the door, they quickly put on their shoes: Yuri in black wedged heels, and Natsuki in yellow flats with white flowers on the front.
They quickly drove to school for the dance.
"So, this is your first dance, right babe?"
"Yes. I've always been so nervous and shy to go. But somehow you convinced me to go to this one."
"Luck try, I guess."
"What are they like?"
"Probably horribly decorated, a table of snacks and drinks, people dancing on the dance floor, but they all sorta disappear when the slow songs start."
"That's how I predicted it to be. I know Sayori and Monika will be there too."
"You think Monika's got a date?"
"It wouldn't surprise me."
"Yeah, me neither."
They shortly arrived to the school, seeing Sayori waving at them. They met up with their friend.
"Sayori, where's Monika?" Yuri asked
"Yeah, has she got a date?" Natsuki snickered.
Sayori smiled. "I'll show you!"
The trio walked into the place together, people were dancing, some were at the snack table, but Sayori pointed out Monika. She was dancing with a boy both Yuri and Natsuki didn't recognize.
"Who is she dancing with?" Yuri asked.
"I'm not sure who that is."
Natsuki butted in. "It's her boyfriend! Duh! Look at the way their looking at each other!" This statement cause Sayori and Yuri to laugh.
The girls had a great time at the dance. They got snacks from the snack table, they danced on the dance floor, and even used the new photo booth. There was also a ping pong table, which surprised Natsuki."
Natsuki snickered about it. "Looks like someone used Daddy's money to get us a ping pong table." She was referring to the spoiled girls that were at the school.
They went back to dancing, but then the first slow dance song played, and everyone fled the dance floor, except Natsuki and Yuri.
"May I have this dance, babe?"
"My love, you may have every dance."
Yuri wrapped her arms around Natsuki's waist while Natsuki wrapped hers around Yuri's shoulders as they slowly began to move around the dance floor.
All of the sudden, within the first two minutes of slow dancing, it felt to them as if they were the only people in the room, as if no one was around, and it was just them and the song playing. This feeling got to Natsuki's head, and sort of carried her away.
"Hey, babe; I'm gonna ask you a question, and all I ask is that you take it seriously."
"Okay, what is it?"
"Do you.........wanna get married? Like, tonight?"
Yuri blushed and giggled. "Of course I'd want to marry you! Not tonight, but sometime in the future."
"So, you're saying maybe later?"
"Well, we haven't been together that long."
"For whatever reason, I keep forgetting that."
"Me too. But let's see where love takes us for a while. Then we'll get married. Besides, you're not even an adult yet."
"Well, you're barely an adult, being 18 yourself. I'm only one year behind you, and we are graduating this year very soon."
"We are graduating soon, aren't we? Well, we will live together as girlfriends for a while, then we will decide in the future."
"It's a deal."
As soon as the dance was over, instead of driving home, the girls drove to the park, it was 10:30 at night, so no one else would be there.
They drove up to the park, and walked over to the gazebo in the middle of the field.
Yuri looked around. "It's surprisingly a wonderful view in here."
"Not as beautiful as my view of you. Yuri, I love you more than anything, I don't think I'd be this happy in life if we never fell in love."
"I feel the same. I guess happiness in living life is just another one of our love's side effects."
"It's not a side effect, it's what our love is able to cure. It cures the darkness we feel, making us happy by just being together."
With that, Yuri and Natsuki kissed under the gazebo with the starry night sky above them. There was nothing wrong with the world, and as long as they were together, there won't ever be.
