Chapter 20

Gavin’s POV

I was unsure why I was fidgeting in my seat. Clyde told me we were going to celebrate my discharge from the hospital in my parents’ restaurant for the whole day. Maybe it was because Ivan was coming. I hadn’t seen him since the day I woke up.

For the whole week, honestly I felt like something missing. Like I was supposed to be with him. Like I should be looking at his face or hearing his voice every day. I had remembered some things like how Clyde and Blake happened to become a couple, an engaged couple and I remembered the day Ivan was about to be abducted by a stalker. But that was about it. I couldn’t remember anything for the past year. This year when Clyde said that Ivan and I had become official.

I almost grunted in frustration because if Ivan and I were really dating, I would be so happy. An intelligent and regal man was mine. Like, how did I manage to get him?

The sound of the door opening pulled me out of my trance and I glanced up slowly. My head was still wrapped in a bandage and I wore a green beanie to cover the cloth over my head. Blake got in first before my eyes laid on the most beautiful man I had ever seen. Sand coloured hair, tresses that almost caresses his shoulders, his bangs styles sideways and his forest green eyes bored into mine.

I was frozen in my spot. The same feeling when I first saw him in the airport. I remembered that part. He thought I was Blake’s boyfriend at first. I smiled at the thought and Blake’s smile widened as they moved to sit at our table, as if noticing that I could be remembering something.

“Let’s sit outside at the balcony instead,” I found myself speaking. Ivan looked up at me in surprise, half smiling. Clyde and Blake looked at each other and nodded eventually. The balcony table only held tables for two people but I felt the setting was more private. Something like we used to do. Blake made Ivan and I sat together while he and Clyde sat at the table next to us, close enough so we all can join in a conversation.

“We always chose the balcony when we eat here,” Ivan started and I looked up to see his half smiling face, as if he was remembering something painful. “I’m sorry I can’t remember that much now, but everything feels familiar about you,” I admitted and his face reddened a little and I actually beamed at his reaction. I let him ordered the foods we always eat since I wanted to try to remember everything. I mean, this was the reason why Clyde and Blake had this day planned, I knew that now.

We ate almost in silence. We only talked mostly about work and he explained how I got the part in Natgeo research team for the past few months. Somehow, I felt this was not how used to act around each other at all.

“Ivan,” I said. He looked up from his drink and looked at me. “I’m sorry, can we talk about something else? What did we often talk about?” I asked. He blushed at this. “It’s always you who did most of the talking,” he said. I raised my eyebrows at that. Nothing strange about that. I had always been the talkative one. “Anything else?” I pushed. He blushed even harder. I felt a tight feeling in my groin and was taken surprise by it. I was turned on by Ivan!

“Well, if you must know you always talk dirty to me,” he whispered, glancing away. His face was still red and I couldn’t help but smirk. “Oh…I can see myself doing that,” I said and he immediately covered his face with his hands. “Oh God.” I just laughed at that and before we realized, it was almost noon and Blake said we need to go to Aqua Planet as the next venue.

I sat next to Ivan in Gabriel’s car while Devon was sitting in the passenger’s side. Blake and Clyde was in another car. I couldn’t help the electric feeling when Ivan boldly laced his fingers between mine as he stared outside the window as if it was the most natural thing to do. For the first time today, I felt a rush of tingling feeling when I looked at him. I wanted to remember the feelings I had with him. I wanted to love him, I found myself thinking.
