Quinn's POV

The next few days had gone by at school in a blur and I couldn't help the fact that I had gotten upset over Brittney and Jaxon. I was so close to letting him kiss me, hell, I wanted so badly for him to kiss me but now I'm kind of glad that we didn't. There was no way I was going to let myself get caught up in this mess with another boy who plays with hearts as if they were durable.

Shifting under my comforter and glancing at my phone, I noticed a missed text from none other than the man I had been avoiding.

Listen, I know that you have been ignoring me but is there any way we can talk about it today? We can meet up for lunch if you'd like?

Did I want to meet up with Jaxon? It would be the right thing to do to let him explain. Why was I so worked up anyways? It's not like we were dating, I'm just... scared. Scared to let someone in again.

Sighing, I picked my phone up and sent him back a text, letting him know that I would meet up with him today and the amount of smiley faces and exclamation marks he sent back must mean that he was just as excited as I was.

Today was Thursday and luckily I didn't have any classes today and I could assume Jaxon didn't either if he was going to be taking me out for lunch. I threw on a pair of skinny jeans and navy blue Adidas sneakers, a plain white tee and my charcoal colored bomber jacket before tying my hair in a fishtail braid and a thin layer of eyeliner. Stepping in front of a mirror I glanced over my self and nodded my approval, stuffing my hands in my pockets and grinning at the girl in the mirror.

Not too dressed up but I don't look like a bum today. Way to go Quinn!

As soon as I walked towards the front door I couldn't help but realize that he never said where we were going. Pulling out my phone, I shot him a quick text asking where to meet him at.

Just come outside damsel.

I rolled my eyes and walked out the front door to see Jaxon leaning against his car. I swear, that boy could wear a garbage bag and still look like a model. His dark green shirt brought out the green hue in his eyes making them more emerald than ever and his black pants made his skin tone look lighter, less tan than he normally is but still, oh so dreamy.

"Well, whenever you're done checking me out, hop in the car so we can go!" He snickered as I sauntered closer to him, playfully smacking his shoulder.

"Ego much?"

"Nah, just confident. Girls like confidence right?" I shook my head in laughter as he opened my door and closed it for me before getting into his side and driving off. There wasn't any conversation in the car but luckily there was no need, the silence was actually really comfortable and the radio was soothing, not too loud but loud enough to cover the quiet air.

Once Jaxon pulled into a parking lot, I looked up at the neon sign with Betty's Diner written across it. Honestly, it looked like one of those diners that you see in movies with the red and white tiled floor, red bar stools lined up along the bar, and red booths along the wall. Jaxon intertwined his fingers with me and tugged me towards a booth in the far corner, waving a hey to the cashier along the way.

"I take it you come here often?" He nodded, thanking the waitress for our menu's and ordering us both a water.

"This place is a hidden gem. The food is great, the milkshakes are awesome, and it's never really packed in here except for breakfast so if you ever need a get away, you can just hang out here and no one really bothers you."

Jaxon's eyes lit up as he talked about this restaurant, explaining to me that Betty was actually the owners late wife and she had passed away before fulfilling her dream of opening a restaurant. Apparently Jaxon comes in so often that he's met the owner and all the staff know him and what his normal order is.
