Jaxon POV
The next few days after the party had been difficult. Being apart from Quinn had been one of the hardest things for me and it felt like a piece of my heart that she held was slowly tearing away.
Thomas and I had done quite a bit of research on Kendall ever since I found his name out at the party. It had been a ruse all along to introduce myself just to figure out his name but it still ached seeing Quinn practically claimed by him. Even though I could see the sadness and pain that drenched her blue eyes, it still hurt, knowing that I couldn't reach out and cure the sadness in her heart.
The only thing we were able to find about this piece of scum was the fact that he had been following Quinn this entire time and knew where she was at even when she didn't know. She had thought she was hidden from him all along but he had been toying with her, watching every move she made.
My fingers drummed against the desk as I scanned over my computer screen, glancing at all the useless information that we had found out. He was clean, the only thing on his record was a restraining order and even with that the police weren't able to do anything unless they caught him near her.
I clenched and unclenched my fists and rested my head against the cool desk, trying to figure out how best to go about our next move. There was no way to get close to Quinn to even talk to her because Kendall was always around. It was almost as if he knew we were planning something and wasn't giving us any room to work.
A soft knock interrupted my thoughts and I glanced up to see Thomas, hand raised in the air in a slight wave and I tipped my head up in greeting.
"Made any progress?"
I groaned, placing my head in my crossed arms in an attempt to ignore Thomas.
He clapped a hand on my shoulder and gave me a wide grin. "I know you're bummed out about this whole situation but I have good news." The slight excitement in his voice caused me to raise an eyebrow in his direction. "So apparently Quinn got offered a championship fight in a couple of weeks."
A sigh escaped my lips and I rubbed a hand through my hair that I'm pretty sure would have a few grey hairs soon due to stress. "That's great Thomas, she deserves that shot at a title, I just wish I could be there for her you know?"
Thomas crossed his arms and let out a huff of breath. "Yes, I know, that's why I'm telling you. Since she has an important fight coming up she'll be at the gym way more to be prepared."
My arms stretched overhead as I leaned back in my chair, turning to fully face Thomas as I gave him a bored expression.
"Wow, can you be any more dense? I thought you had a brain in that thick skull of yours." Thomas grumbled slightly. "She'll be at the gym, which means that Kendall won't be there, which means-"
"She will be alone and I can talk to her without stupid being there." I shot up out of my chair, finally catching on to what he was saying. "Thomas, I take back everything I've ever said about you being dumb. I think you might be the smartest man alive."
Thomas leaned over in a mock bow while twirling his hand in the air. "Of course my liege."
I laughed and threw on my shoes as quickly as I could, glancing at the clock and hoping that Quinn would be at the gym already as I ran out the door, yelling a quick thank you to my best friend.
--------------------------------
The parking lot was scarce once I had pulled into a spot in front of the gym. Crisp air bit into my cheeks causing my to pull the collar of my jacket closer to my face, stuffing my hands into my pockets and hurrying towards the heated indoors. The smell of disinfectant drifted around me once the door closed behind me, shutting off the wind that threatened to blister my cheeks more than they already were.
