Jaxon POV
Quinn's fingers slipped from my hand as she maneuvered through the dancing crowd. I followed her figure momentarily, noticing Kendall turning a corridor and Quinn following a few paces behind. I went to nudge Thomas only to notice him already watching the same thing, our eyes locked and we nodded to each other, my feet already carrying me through the swarm of people.
My mind was racing, this was it, finally after everything Quinn has gone through we would be able to put things to rest. There's no telling what happened to make me so wrapped around Quinn's fingers but I knew that I would do anything for this girl. Rounding the corner that Quinn had just passed through I stumbled to a halt, almost running into another girl before me.
"Oh my bad I'm sor-" I paused, a scowl forming on my face as I noticed none other than Brittany standing before me. Her devious smile sending nausea through my throat. "Oh, it's you." I muttered, stepping to the side to continue on my way.
"Listen, Jaxon." Brittany started, her fingers grasping the sleeve of my jacket before I snatched my arm away from her.
"No, Brittany, I don't have time so if you could kindly fuck off that'd be great." I growled out, pushing past her before she grabbed my jacket and tugged again.
"If you're looking for Quinn she went down that hall." Brittany pointed to our left to another hall that seemed to steer off towards the end. I glanced back at the brunette and narrowed my eyes, looking back at Thomas who gave me a questioning look. "I know that you and I could never happen so let me at least do one good deed and help a friend out okay?" Thomas shrugged his shoulders and I turned to look at Brittany once more, debating if she was being truthful or not.
Thomas seemed to make the decision for me as he stepped forward and leaned in towards my ear. "You follow her and I'll go down this hall. I'm not sure which way they went either, getting through that crowd really slowed our time." I nodded at his words, turning back to Brittany and letting out a deep breath that I hadn't realized I had been holding.
"Alright, lead the way." I muttered, Thomas bypassing us and continuing down the hall that we were on. Brittany took a left and started walking, my feet following a few steps behind just in case this walk turned sour. I couldn't help but feel like this was what happened in horror movies, we split up and the next thing you know some creature is trying to kill you.
Maybe Brittany's the creature?
I shook my head at the thoughts, I needed to stay focused, no matter how much Brittany may seem like she's leading me to imminent doom.
After taking a right down another hallway I finally stopped and took a glance around my surroundings. "Brittany, they wouldn't have gone this far, where are you taking me?"
Brittany rolled her eyes and pointed at a door a few more paces down the hall. "They went in there Jaxon."
I shook my head at her, taking a few steps back and looking over my shoulder. "There's no way you would know that, the amount of time it would have taken for you to see them go in there and then come back to greet me is way off. I'm not stupid, that's why I'm not with you're crazy ass."
Twirling on my heel quickly, I made my way back down the hallway, stumbling when the clicking of heels came to a halt in front of my and I scowled at the brown eyes before me, shoving her hand that she had placed in front of me as if to stop me completely.
"Brittany, I swear if you don't fucking move-" We both jumped as a gunshot reverberated through the room, my skin paling as thoughts swam through my mind quicker than I could consciously sort through. I shouldered past Brittany, running down the hall and turning the corner, shoving the sliding door open and stepping out into the cool breeze.
