The Box

Disclaimer: Do not take the ship of Kazune and Mirai seriously. I do not take this seriously and expect you all to do the same. The last thing I want is to be the cause of something like the Laura and Nozomu ship (I mean really, where did that come from?) Thank you.

Subaru Yuki looked under his bed, under his dresser, under everything in his room. He started to wish he had cleaned his room like the rest of his family had told him to. "'It's not a mess, Kanata!'" his younger brother mocked from the door "'It's disoriented organization!' Really, how do you live with yourself?"

"I live just fine, thank you!" Subaru said to Kanata "Now just help me find it!"

Kanata nodded and moved a pack of Pokemon cards Subaru forgot he had to the side. His room really was a mess. "Would it kill you throw away your trash?" Kanata asked

"I do, it just ... falls out," Subaru pointed to the overflowing trash can he had in the corner of the room. "Oh! Check in there! Maybe I dropped it,"

"You can check there yourself," Kanata picked up a pair of sky blue swim trunks. "I thought you packed these?"

"Just throw them in my suit case and help me find it!"

Subaru was at the breaking point, he had twenty-four hours until he, Kanata, and their parents would be shipped off to their cousin's house. They'd spend twelve hours there until they needed to catch their flight to Aikatsu Island. There, their cousin, Kazune Yuki, would be marrying Mirai Asuka, a girl who they knew nothing about except for how she looked. Red hair and cyan eyes.

It had been years since they had seen their cousins, every vacation with them seemed to have been canceled so much that Subaru and Kanata even forgot their cousins names. So over the past week they've been memorizing all their names, making sure they got it right so they didn't embarrass themselves.

"Knock! Knock!" said Yume Nijino, their neighbor from Aikatsu Street, as she knocked on the door.

"Hey Boiled Octopus," Subaru said, too busy to give her his full attention. 

"Did something happen with Acorn?" Kanata asked. Acorn was Kanata's turtle. Though he was considered to be the entire family's pet, Acorn and Kanata shared a deeper bond then anyone else. The Nijinos were put in charge of taking care of him and only received him that morning. Kanata worried for him secretly and wished Acorn could have come along. But alas, he could not.

"Acorn is fine," said Yume "What are you guys doing?"

"Looking for something," Kanata answered

"What?"

"A box," said Subaru

 The box was a gift from Henry and Shelly Bokerdole, the elderly couple who lived in the mansion in The Woods. After hearing about the wedding, Shelly quickly pulled together a gift. Subaru had taken it then ... then what? that was the question.  

"Oh, you mean this box?" Yume held out a small box wrapped with yellow paper and tied with a blue ribbon. "You left it at my house when you dropped Acorn off,"

Subaru walked over and took the box from Yume and let out a sigh of relief. "Yume, you are a life saver," he said

"You can pay me back by telling me about the wedding," she said "It's probably a lot better then your wedding from last year,"

"We swore never to speak of that!" Subaru hissed, his face red.

Last summer, Yume had planned a pretend wedding between Subaru and her little sister, Aria. Not one of Aikatsu Streets most memorable moments but one of the more embarrassing. Subaru had made Yume, Aria, and The Arisugawa Triplets (who were also present) to never talk about it again later but their commitment wasn't a strong one.

"You're married?" Kanata asked

"No! Now get out of my room, everyone!"

"Relax, relax," said Yume "And don't push me away! We won't see each other for another six weeks!"

Subaru sighed "I'm sorry," he smiled "See ya later Boiled Octopus,"

Yume stuck out her tongue then giggled and left the house. "Goodbye!"

"Bye," Kanata called. Then he turned to his brother "You should have told her! You have told her a long time ago,"

Kanata had been picking on Subaru ever since the Winter Play of Beauty and the Beast where Subaru was the beast and Yume was Beauty. Subaru guessed it was revenge for all the times he picked on Kanata about Ako from School Spirit Week.

Maybe he'd somehow manage to escape any talk about love ... during his cousins wedding.
