Demi's POV

I was waiting for Madison to get here. There was still five minutes till she was supposed to get here. For some reason, I was more excited to hear her then anybody else. The sound of footsteps broke through my thoughts.

"Hello Maddy." I said enthusiastically.

"Hi Demi." She responded quietly.

"Whenever your ready."

She nodded. She closed her eyes for a little bit before nodding at the piano. The tune was familiar, but I couldn't place it.

I can almost see it

That dream I'm dreaming

But there's a voice inside my head says

You'll never reach it

Every step I'm taking

Every move I make feels

Lost with no direction

My faith is shaking

But I

I gotta keep trying

Gonna keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Sometime's I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing

The chances I'm taking

Sometimes might knock me down but

No I'm not breaking

I may not know it

But these are the moments that

I'm gonna remember most and

Just gotta keep going

And I

I gotta be strong

Just keep pushing on

Cause there's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Sometime's I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb

There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Somebody gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb

It's the climb

I remembered the tune now. It was "the climb" by Miley Cyrus. She had an old-fashioned sense in music. I liked it. The older songs had more meaning in them.

"Thank you. I'll see you later." I told her.

She nodded while biting her lip before walking off. I looked at my assistant judge.

"What do you think Cher?"

Yes my assistant is Cher Lloyd. She was in town so that we could record our duet song.

"I liked her. She had nice voice. She also comes across pretty shy, but she has some real fire."

"Do you think the audience will like her though?" I inquired.

"Well... I think several people are going to look up at her like a role model, but then there's gonna be that group of girls that will hate her a lot."

"It makes sense. I think that she really has potential to win the competition. I just need to train her to have more confidence in herself."

"But, will she be able to go far after the competition?"

"I don't know!!!" I buried my face in my hands. This was so hard.

The next day...

I called the girls to me one by one. I had made my decision. It was hard at first, but in the end, Cher and I made our decision.

I told the security guards to get Maddy.

"Hi Demi." Someone said. I jumped.

"Hey Maddy! Sorry, I was just thinking." I told her.

"Sorry for interrupting." She said.

"Have a seat."

She sat down on the sofa.

"I've thought about this for a while. I was battling with myself. My head says no, my heart says yes. You understand the risk right?"

She nodded nervously.

"I've made my decision. You're much too talented and amazing to let go of. You're through."

Madison's POV

"You're through."

Those were the last words I heard before I started to cry happy tears.

"Thank you so much." I cried. We hugged.

"You deserve this." She said out loud.

While we're hugging, she whispered in my ear.

"I'm rooting for you Maddy. You're amazing." She whispered.

I let go of her and went back to my room. I got my luggage and went to the bus. I looked around the bus and saw Ellona. She saw me and waved towards the seat beside her excitedly.

"You made it through!!!" She squealed.

"You sound so shocked." I placed a hand on my heart and looked away pretending to be upset.

"I'm so sorry!!! Could you ever forgive me?" She said dramatically.

"Sure." I shrugged.

We hugged each other and talked the entire bus trip to the airport.
