Dedicated Chapter 12:

After the ride

-HANJI-

I'm standing outside my office and I pulled out my key. As I open the door, someone called my attention so I turned around.

"You! Why are you here?" Rico blurted while walking towards me.

"The library has monthly maintenance this afternoon. And that's why I have some extra time in my hands."

"Then that's good for you. You can have some break at last."

"What do you mean break? I still have work you know. I came back to do some papers."

"You're so hardworking. Then I'll go to the break room now."

"Okay."

Rico walked away and I entered my office. Taking my seat, I started sorting out the papers I need to fill up.

First section's grade for my subject, clearance paper, planned projects for the department, suggestion paper for the upcoming May Fest.

I rechecked the grades so they can be finalized soon. That part was easy. But then, my focus started to drift away.

Maybe because I encountered someone weird today? Or did I for forget something?

Unconsciously and almost automatically, I pushed my eyeglasses up. I was reminded that it was cleaned up.

That Levi. That Shorty cleaned my eyeglasses and even gave me a ride. But there's something off with him I know, like he's concealing something.

*slamming of table

No. It looks seems that I am the one who's a bit off. I can't concentrate anymore. Better go to the break room.

Shadis is inside the break room. Rico, Ian, and Hannes are also there. They greeted when they saw me, Shadis being louder than the rest.

"What, you followed me here right?" Asked Rico.

"No. I lost focus." I replied.

"Didn't I say that you should have your break?"

Shadis turned to me.

"Are you tired? Do you feel sick?"

"No! Not at all. I can't concentrate because I kept thinking about my sweet boyfriend who even waited for me to give a stuffed toy frog."

There, there, he will hear about my boyfriend now.

"Boyfriend? Who?"

"Sawney."

"Whoever is that, I don't believe you. Give me proof."

"Then wait there! I'll bring the fr-"

No, wait.

"Bring the frog?" Hannes butted in.

"Oh no. I don't recall holding it while heading to my office. I don't even know where I last put it."

I'm certain that I did not bring it inside my office. Was it at the cafe? Or I left it in Levi's car?
