Moms' POV

"Hey hon, how's it going in here?" Emma asks as she walks into the kitchen and gives her wife a peck on the cheek.

"It's good. Kayla's been very helpful."

"That's good. Do you think her helping you was the easy way out though?"

"I don't see why it is?"

"Well, cause this activity was supposed to be about the elderly folks in there. But instead she was in here, helping you."

They both look out of the kitchen at Kayla as she makes her way through everyone, offering pie or cookies.

"I can see why you'd think that, but I don't think she took the easy way out. She still did something for all of them and I think she's just not comfortable in crowds."

"Kayla? Not comfortable in crowds? That break up must have been harder on her than I thought."

"How do you know about her break up?"

"Practically the whole school does. It'll explain why she's done a whole 180 in confidence though."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, a week ago if you asked me who Kayla Davis was, I'd tell you she was a strong, smart, confident and capable young lady who was always surrounded by people. But now, it looks like she's lost all of that. She's still smart and strong perhaps in her own way, but she's definitely hiding in her own shell now. "

"I can only imagine what it's like to have the whole school look at you because of a bad break up."

"Honey, it wasn't just bad. It was awful. The whole school found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend before she did. I can imagine it was nauseating and infuriating. But she hasn't had anyone to turn to because all her friends just left her."

"Poor baby. Wow, and she's still here. Maybe she's still as strong or possibly stronger than you thought."

"Maybe."

Just then Kayla looks at them and shouts.

"Principal Jones, is it okay if I take Margaret here out on a walk?"

Emma smiles at her and says
"Sure thing honey, just be back by 12.30 alright?"

"Thanks Principal Jones!"

"She's definitely something else Les. Something else."They watch as she wheels the older lady out of the room.
