After her meeting with Margaret, Kayla spent her time psyching herself up for what she was about to do.
She had it all figured out. She was going to focus on their diving first then at the end she was going to bring up the idea of going to dinner together, just the two of them. If he asked if it was a date, she would say yes. If he didn't, she'd let him know at dinner.
Now all she had to do was keep it together through practice and hope he says yes.She walked into the indoor pool and notices that Zach isn't there yet. So she decides to do some warm up laps while waiting for him.
About 20 minutes later, Kayla had almost given up on waiting for Zach when he comes barreling through the doors.
"I am so sorry!" He says while panting and trying to catch his breath. "I got held up with someone."
"That's okay." Kayla says hesitantly, eyeing him up and down. "Do you need some time to breathe?" She also noticed that he didn't have a t-shirt on him, making her blush at the sight.
"No. No. I'm good." He says putting his hand up and taking a deep breath. "Do you want to just start at 10 meters?" He points towards the highest platform.
"Sure. We can take a slow walk up and talk about what we want to work on. I've actually got some ideas on the tricks we can do and hopefully pull of."
They walk up the steps slowly for Zach's sake and start to discuss tactics and difficulty levels. Kayla can't seem to focus though, as she keeps getting distracted by Zach's eyes and body. But soon they were at the top peering over the edge, deciding what to do first.
"So front flip?"
"Ladies' choice."
"Okay, tip toe on '2', jump on 'flip'. Ready?"
Zach nods and they both take up their positions, standing at the edge of the platform with theirs arms straight out at their sides.
"3." They both take a deep breath.
"2." They both stand on their toes.
"1...Flip!" They both take off of the platform into a front tuck, rotating once before going straight into a pencil dive entry.
They both resurface and head towards the ledge. Boosting themselves out.
"That was awesome!" Kayla says excitedly as they both wipe down.
"I have no idea if we were even in sync. We should probably get someone to watch us and tell us what we can work on."
"Who cares Zach? That was amazing and fun!"
"Yeah. I guess it was fun." Zach says, letting a small smile appear on this lips.
"Come on. Don't be such a downer." Kayla says while playfully shoving him.
"Sorry. I guess I've just always been taught to perfect my dives. I kind of lose the fun of it sometimes." He says while scratching the back of his head.
"I get it. I really do. But right now, it's just you and me. The goal is to have fun, okay?" Kayla says holding on to Zach's shoulders and looking directly into his eyes.
They're both staring into each other's eyes and they unknowingly start to lean towards each other. Feeling Zach's breath fan her lips, pulls Kayla out of it and she pulls back quickly. They both step back from each other clearing their thoughts.
"Urm, shall we do another?"
"What? Hmm? Oh yeah. Sure. Lead the way." Zach says, slightly flustered.
