Four| Dinner for who?

"I still don't understand why we have to cook so much food. If the family really wanted to eat, then they'd bring their own food from their house." I rolled my eyes.

"That's not how it works, Violet" my mom sighed "When this family comes over for dinner tonight, I expect you to be on you're best behavior."

"What family is coming over anyways?"

"My boss's family. She has two boys and a girl that moved out to California not too long ago."

"Why do we have to make salad? It doesn't even taste like anything. Salad is rabbits food." I scoffed, taking the muffins out of the oven.

"Salad has a lot of vitamins and calcium in it. It's very healthy for the body. Maybe you should try it sometime" she smiled. "You're always the one saying you wanna lose weight, but you don't put any effort in."

"I'd rather lick the bottom of a custodian who's been working in the bathrooms then eat a plate of that."

"Your so over dramatic." She rolled her eyes. "Now go get dressed, and please try to wear something that actually looks good."

I sighed and headed upstairs to my room. I didn't understand why I have to dress up when the dinner is literally gonna be in the dining room downstairs.

I looked through my closet and almost screamed when I found the perfect outfit I could wear. I slipped it on and brushed my hair to the side, afterwards I applied some make up. For once I felt pretty good about myself.

I took out my phone and took a picture.

"Hopefully the guests will like it" I thought

"Hopefully the guests will like it" I thought.

"Violet, go open the door. I think I heard a knock" my mom said, helping my dad with the Chicken Alfreda.

I went to the door and my smile instantly turned into a frown when I saw Ethan and Grayson.

"What are you doing here?" I crossed my arms, pointing at them.

"That's no way to treat your guests." Grayson chuckled.

Before I could get another word out, a tall women with brown hair gently pushed me out the way and went into the kitchen to greet my mom. Grayson and Ethan followed behind, leaving me there.

I closed the door and walked towards the kitchen where everyone was greeting each other.

"You look nice." Ethan smirked, handing me a cup of water.

"Thank you?" I said, furrowing my eyebrows. Nobody's really given me a genuine compliment before. The closest I ever got to a compliment was from my cousin who said 'your pretty..for a fat girl'

"Get ready, fatty. This night is gonna be long and hard" Grayson winked, brushing his shoulder against mine.
