Chapter 9: The Great Fox

Lucario and Meta Knight were fiercely running through the forest near the mountain range. There were many guards available to bring but Lucario decided against it as he knew that he would end up trying to protect them rather than accomplishing the goals. 

When they exited the forest, Meta Knight suddenly stopped. 

"What's the pause for?" Lucario asked.

Lucario did not need the answer as he looked up to the sky to see Meta Knight's ship, Halberd and another ship, that revealed the name Great Fox on the side of its body, fighting. Lasers were fired at Halberd from Great Fox, but they barely helped since Halberd was a much bigger ship than Great Fox. 

Meta Knight flew straight up the mountain, passing a pair of Ice Climbers. They immediately followed Meta Knight. Lucario then followed up. 

As they got to the nearest part to the top of the mountain, Halberd dragged Great Fox and bumped the ship into the top of the mountain. The mountain shook, causing Ice Climbers to fall. Lucario and Meta Knight took the opportunity to get up onto Halberd. Great Fox flew away with a black smoke growing from it. 

When Great Fox landed onto the ground, half destroyed, Samus woke up from the shaking of the ground. 

"What was that?" Samus asked Snake.

"I don't know. I'll go look." Snake replied quietly.

Samus was feeling much better, thanks to Snake. Pikachu followed Snake who was walking away from the cave they were staying in, and Samus took Snake's words and stayed. 

When Snake and Pikachu found Great Fox lying on the ground, Pikachu called out for Samus.

"Pika! Pika Pika! Pikapika!" Pikachu called out repeatedly.

"You know this ship?" Snake asked Pikachu and Pikachu nodded. 

Snake went back to the cave to tell Samus what they just witnessed. Samus got up with Snake's help and walked out of the cave.

"Great Fox!" Samus shouted.

"Is this yours?" Snake asked and Samus shook her head.

"This is my friends'. I came to this planet on this. My ship with my powersuits... it's in it too!" Samus said excitedly. 

The three entered the half destroyed ship and found Wolf half unconscious.

"Wolf! It's Samus. What happened?" Samus asked Wolf as she knelt down.

"Halberd attacked the ship. I fought back but their ship was too big for Great Fox to handle." Wolf weakly replied. 

"That's the ship I was planning on going into." Snake interrupted. 

They brought Wolf into the cave, and Samus went back into the broken ship to find her own jet. Snake and Pikachu followed, which was a bad idea.

Wolf was falling asleep when he realized that someone was in the cave.

"Wahahaha!" Wolf heard an unpleasant laugh but when he looked behind, everything went black.

It was Wario. Wario had turned Wolf into a trophy figure and quickly got on his bike to escape.

When Snake went back into the cave, Wolf was gone. He looked around outside of the cave and saw a man on a bike in a far distance, carrying Wolf's figure.

"Samus!" He shouted as he fired his gun at the bike.

Samus came out of Great Fox in her powersuit and read the situation. She also aimed at the bike with her arm cannon but knew better that the bike was too far. 

"Dammit." Samus whispered.

"Dammit." Snake whispered for a different reason as he saw Samus in her powersuit. 

"I need to go to their research facility. ASAP." Samus said calmly. 

"I need to go on Halberd" Snake replied.

"I guess this is where we say goodbye then." Samus said with a monotone. 

"No, you can contact me through the codec. Here." Snake handed her a codec. "And are you going to stay in that suit?" Snake asked and Samus nodded.

"You look better without it." Snake smiled and told the bounty hunter as she was getting into her own ship. Samus paused.

"Farewell Snake. And thank you." Samus said without looking at him and got into her ship with Pikachu. She did not let Snake see her blush at his comment, although she was in her armor.
