Valkyrie Cain cradled her little sister close as Fletcher Renn, renowned teleporter and extremely annoying, sat beside her.
"So... you asked me here because...?" Fletcher asked.
Valkyrie looked at him. "Fletch, Tanith stole Alice. Skulduggery and me stopped her, but she seemed to think Alice was her... sister."
Fletcher frowned. "Her sister? Seriously? Wow, that's..."
"That's sad?"
"Hmm? Oh. No, I was going to say it's really stupid and weird and plain wrong."
Valkyrie nodded. "That too."
"So, why do you need me here? I enjoyed Australia. It was warm."
Valkyrie glared at him. "Australia is more important than my little sister's life?"
Fletcher shuffled uncertainly. "Uh..."
"Didn't think so. Now, I need you to teleport me into Tanith's warehouse."
"But I've never been there-"
"Yeah, so here's a picture of it." Valkyrie gave it to him.
Fletcher frowned again. "But... I haven't been there. And I can't teleport into a picture."
Valkyrie sighed. "But you can picture it in your head... right?"
He shrugged. "Vaguely."
She took hold of his arm.
"So go on. Teleport."
She laid Alice in her cot (Skulduggery had moved it downstairs for her) and turned to him.
"Here goes," Fletcher muttered uncertainly.
And then there was darkness.

Tanith walked into the warehouse, thinking about Alice Edgley. She was cute. Sweet. Funny. Everything a baby sister should be, and more. But Valkyrie didn't want to share her sister, and Tanith didn't know why.
Suddenly, Tanith's lips turned back.
"NO!" Tanith screamed. The Remnant laughed and Tanith shrieked as it took over her body again.
Billy Ray Sanguine ran in. "Everythin' okay, darlin'?"
The Remnant inside Tanith laughed evilly.
"Of course, sweetie."
Billy Ray frowned. "Why did you scream then?"
Then Tanith screamed again. "Run! Sanguine! Get Skulduggery Pleasant and run!"
The Remnant snarled and regained its control over Tanith's body. Billy Ray's eyes were wide.
"What the hell was that?" he asked, obviously terrified.
"Nothing..." she laughed. Tanith walked away, chuckling. Billy Ray thought about what Tanith had said, then ran.
He had to get Skulduggery Pleasant.

Ghastly sat in his kitchen, drinking tea. With Tanith on the loose, he thought he was in for a rough ride. But this? Killing Ghastly's mother?
