Wreath grunted as Skulduggery punched him across the jaw. He stumbled back and Valkyrie rapped her knuckles on his chin. He fell backwards and shook his head, like he was awakening from a bad dream.
"Will you stop punching me?!" Wreath yelled. "What did I do?"
"You know what you bloody well did. You almost killed my mother," Valkyrie snarled.
"What?" Wreath frowned. "Valkyrie, why would I do such a thing?"
Skulduggery towered over Wreath. "That's what we're asking you."
Valkyrie's eyes were almost red with fury. "Why the hell was your cane there so?" she said, thrusting the cane towards him. He blinked.
"Where did you find this?"
"Where you left it."
"Valkyrie, I assure you, I had nothing to do with this-" He was cut off by Skulduggery punching him. Hard.
Wreath cursed. "Is this about you being the Death Bringer?" he asked, rubbing his chin where Skulduggery had punched him.
"No, this is about you attacking my mother." Valkyrie hissed.
"Valkyrie. Do you want what I think happened?"
Valkyrie closed her eyes tightly. "Whatever."
"Okay. Well, the Remnant that was in Tanith Low was in the Soul Catcher. Quiver had the bright idea to open it so that the Remnant could find and kill Lord Vile. Of course, the Remnant was angry. It possessed quite a lot of us Necromancers, and I think it may have possessed me."
Valkyrie's eyes widened. Of course, that would make sense. The Remnant wanted revenge, so it goes after her family.
"Thank you," Skulduggery nodded.
"No problem," Wreath muttered, walking away.
"So, what do we do now?" she asked Skulduggery.
"Simple," he replied, walking in the direction of the Bentley. "We find and kill that Remnant, once and for all."
