Chp. 34 Caught in a Lie

Author's POV

As the manager paced around the office, BTS slowly gathered into the room while talking about the choreography for their newest mv. Their manager clears his throat and the buzz around the room stops. "Did you hear the latest news??," their manager asks with a raised brow and hands behind his back. The boys looked around, confused. "Did something happen, hyung??," Jin asks him confused. Their manager slams the latest news paper in front of them with the headline "Park Jimin's New Lover Uncovered!!" in big bold letters. He sighs and glares at each boy harshly, eyes landing on Jimin.

"Park Jimin, what the hell is this??," he demanded. Jimin stared at the paper in disbelief and wide eyes. "Hyung, I don't even know this girl!! This has to be some mistake!! Maybe that's a doppelganger??," he said with trembling fingers. Taehyung could only stare at the newspaper while clenching his fists. "If this was a mistake, then why is your face all over the news?!?!," the manager yelled angrily. "You know that this is a scandal and that it's against your contract!!!"

"Hyung, he for sure wasn't with that girl. He was practicing with us all day yesterday," Namjoon defended while stepping in front of Jimin defensively. Jungkook holds Jimin's hand and squeezed it in reassurance. "How am I supposed to believe that?? What am I to tell the people??? And you're fans??? You think they'd believe that is was a misunderstanding?!" Suga steps up next to Namjoon. "Hyung, we can prove that it was just a doppelganger. Please give us a chance to fix this mess. Jimin would never lie," he stated with sincere eyes.

Their manager could only sigh in frustration. "Fine. I'm giving you guys 3 days to resolve this on your own. If nothing comes up by then, you'll have to suffer the consequences, arasso??" The boys bowed their heads slightly in agreement to the proposition. Their manager dismisses them and they all walked out in a single file towards their dorm. Jimin flopped onto the couch as the others gathered around and tried to comfort him. "I can't believe I'm in someone else's mess..," Jimin sighed and rubbed his face.

"We need to find out who it is and put this misunderstanding to a rest," Jhope stated. "We can't let this continue any further." The boys nodded in agreement. "Wasn't there two Jins before we went home last night??," Suga questioned. All eyes turned towards Virgilio. "Hey, you said something about your other people coming to get you the other day, right?," Namjoon questioned. Virgilio could only nod. "I knew there was something weird about this guy..," Jimin glared at him and muttered.

"I apologize for my comrade's behavior.. It put all of our career at risk, especially Jimin-hyung's..," Virgilio said, still not meeting their eyes. Jimin charged towards him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. "Do you realize what happened?! I'm in a scandal that I don't even fucking know about!!!," he yelled. The others quickly peeled Jimin's balled up fists off of V and held him back. "You need to calm down," Namjoon said sternly. "I'm sure he didn't know about this and I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose." There was a heavy tension in the room and some of the members tried to lift the atmosphere.

"Hey, we got this! We have like... What.. Sixty?? Seventy hours to figure this out??? Plenty of time!!," Jhope exclaimed enthusiastically. "Why can't we just have a press conference and tell them that they aren't dating??," Jin asked. "That's probably the easiest way to resolve all of this mess." Suga looks at him. "I don't think it's as simple as it sounds," he states. The members continued coming up with ways to fix the problem at hand while V sat there, staring at the ground. I'm sorry...

Sooyoon's POV

I sat at the table while staring at the TV screen. I still can't believe that Jabari said that... And I can't believe that I didn't notice that the aliens look just like the BTS members. I heard the stairs creak and I fixed my gaze towards them. "Oh, hey Jai ~," I greeted. He smiles at me and walks towards the water dispenser.
