Ava's POV

It had been exactly five days since our trip to Julian's cabin. Five days since Chase and I said I love you. Things couldn't have been better between us at this point. I was at my happiest since forever, and he seemed happier too. At least I hoped. We didn't waste anytime once we got back from the trip, we hung out every day. Everything was perfect. Of course I didn't forget about my friends, which is why I had invited them over for some girl time. They insisted on us having a sleepover due to the fact that today was my birthday, and I refused on going out.

"Pink or red nail polish?" Lizzie asked.

I snapped out my daze and answered, "I vote red."

"Agreed. Red symbolizes passion, which is something you lack." Kiki threw in laughing.

Lizzie threw a pillow at her, "I do not! I have plenty of.. passion."

We all threw our heads back and laughed. If there was something Lizzie was bad at, it was talking to boys. I mean she was a nervous wreck. Lizzie always had confidence, but whenever it came to someone she didn't know she was horrible. It was hilarious.

"Just put the red nail polish on so we can begin CandyLand." I begged.

"..Actually, we came up with a better idea.." Mia trailed off.

"I already said I wasn't going out to that club."

"Ugh, not that. We invited the boys and we're gonna have a small bonfire here." Lizzie said focusing on her nails.

"You're mom mentioned that you had plans of doing it, so we're just putting it into action." Abigail retorted.

Of course she mentioned that. "Fine. Is it just Julian and Chase?"

I glanced at Lizzie and her cheeks had a crimson color spreading to them. I didn't push it, for all I knew she could have been sunburn. "Some other boys from the football game too, so put something cute on, and we'll meet you outside." Kiki commanded leaving the room. The rest of the girls followed but Lizzie stayed behind.

"Aren't you gonna join them?" I questioned.

Lizzie shook her head, "Can I borrow some clothes? I don't feel like wearing sweatpants." Since when did Lizzie care about her appearance? She always told me that no one could make her change out of her sweat pants unless it was for a good cause.

"Alright, what's this about?"

"What? Can I not look nice?" Lizzie snapped.

I put my hands up defensively and walked over to my closet. I looked around and finally decided on something. I chose an over sized sweater and matched it with leggings and my trainers. Lizzie looked around and chose jeans and an off the shoulder long sleeve shirt. Afterwards, we headed towards my backyard. I opened the screen door and was bombarded with hugs, and 'happy birthday.' I thanked everyone and looked around for Chase. I caught him trying to start the fire, so I made my way over to him.

"Stupid fire." I heard him mumble.

I laughed, "Need some help?"

His head shot up at the sound of my voice. He wore a toothy smile that went well with his black jeans and white t shirt. He looked at me but before I could say anything his lips caught mine. We were molded into each other, caught up in our own bubble. Eventually we had to come up for air. I was disappointed, might I add.

"Happy Birthday beautiful." My cheeks flushed at the sound of his husky voice. Could a human get any more perfect? This insanely attractive guy was in love with me. I mean seriously, out of all people, he chose me. The most boring, average looking girl, and he was in love with me. "Ava, you there?" He said waving a hand in my face.
