"Hey," Demi whispered, lightly playing with the collar of his shirt.
Nobody was here, finally, so she had every chance to talk to Justin. Even though she was going to be late to Biology class, Demi seemed to be more infactuated with him than her school schedule.
Justin turned his head slowly, shaking his head as he grabbed the last book out of his locker. He shrugged her hand off, closing his locker as he kept his back toward her.
"Not here, Demi. Someone could walk by." Justin mumbled, locking his locker securely as he inhaled deeply.
Demi slightly backed away, looking down at her feet as she gripped her books tighter against her. It was the only action that let out her feelings without showing too much of them.
Justin took a look at her from his side, and even though she was a completely blur to him, he could tell how broken she looked.
It wasn't like he could see the tiny sparkle in her eyes from the tears she's trying so hard to hold back, or that he could see the way she was continuously gripping onto her binder and sliding down her clenched hand. It was just the way she stood, looking down beneath her as if that was how small she felt. He could read her better than an open book, she became so obvious to him that even her breathing can tell him how she feels.
"I-I just wanted to wish you luck on your exam today. I know how nervous you are about it, and I-"
"Please, Demi, not here." he repeated again, closing his eyes slowly so that he didn't have to see how difficult this was for the both of them.
Demi couldn't take it anymore. She couldn't accept the fact that the love of her life has barely shown any affection to her for months. She couldn't just watch him unlove her the way he was. "Then where?" She whispered, finally looking up at his slumped structure. "Where could we ever be us, anymore? It's either there's too many people or you're going out to have a smoke with your friends or it's in school. I don't know what you-I don't know what you want from me anymore, Justin. I'm giving you the safety of your reputation, but you're throwing away our love for that. I'm so sorry, Justin. I'm so sorry that I'm so embarrassing to be around. I'm so sorry you fell in love with someone who isn't popular and who isn't pretty. I'm just-I can't do this anymore, Justin. I'm sorry, I just can't anymore." Demi sobbed, turning away from the love of her life as she ran away from him.
Justin stayed still at his locker, unable to absorb everything that was just thrown at him. How would he be able to move on without her? What had he done? "God damn it!" Justin growled, punching the top of his locker with the side of his fist as a wave of emotions started to completely drown him. "Motherfucker!" he cried, kicking the bottom of the locker now, trying to take out all of his emotions.
"The hell are you doing, man?" A familiar voice questioned, and Justin could instantly feel the air grow thick.
Justin immediatly lifted his head up, turing around to face his best friend, Alex, who was just like him-known for sleeping with numerous girls, throwing parties, and being easy.
Justin grew scared-scared that his best friend was going to think he was stupid for dating someone so quiet, someone so isolated like Demi. He didn't want to hear his opinion, not after what just happened.
"It's not what it-"
"When your girlfriend comes up to you, no matter who the hell she is, you're not supposed to fucking tell her to leave because people might see. Who gives a fuck about that, man? How twisted does that sound? You're picking what everybody else around you thinks of the thought of you instead of the love someone has for the real you. Poor girl, her boyfriend doesn't even show off the amount of love she gives him." Alex whispered, shaking his head as he turned away from him. "You are such an asshole I can't even look at you right now. I really can't, Justin. If I were her, I would never bother giving you another chance."
Justin followed his every step until he turned into an unseeable hallway. His entire world had completely crashed beneath him as he felt like he hasn't taken a breath in years.
He was right, he was almost too right, and now Justin was completely losing his mind. There was no way he could live through a day without even simply talking to Demi without having a mental breakdown. She was one of the only people to look past what he was potrayed as and dig deep to find who he truly was. He opened up to her like he had with no one else, and knowing he had let that go made him go sick to his stomach.
Justin kicked the lockers in frustration; before making his final desicion to look for her. He felt like he would never be able to find her, but he had to. Now, he had no choice.
The only thing he could do was run for her.
Run for affection.
