The truly iconic parade would start in maybe 15 minutes, and Gwen MJ and I all had front row seating on the street. We brought our flags, but kind of used them as blankets, as the late March weather was absolutely freezing. I was also still questioning whether or not to swing in as Spiderman, but I didn't have that much time.
"When does it start?" MJ shivered.
"Its not like the parade will make it any warmer."
"Come on guys it's not that cold outside." I said.
"Come on, you have your suit underneath, and two flags."
"Do you wanna get some hot chocolate? There's a Starbucks right there." MJ pointed past the crowd.
"We'll lose our spots." Gwen stated. It was true, this parade had hundreds of thousands of people attending it, and we came here an hour and a half early to get good seating. Then we heard people cheering in the distance and we knew it had started.
A giant group of people came in holding an enormous rainbow flag, and Gwen screamed behind us waving hers around like crazy.
Around ten minutes in, I figured I should change now or never."OKAY IM GOING TO GO NOW!" I shouted to them over all the commotion.
"ALRIGHT! GOOD LUCK!" They both shouted, and I squeezed my way through the crowd. Nearby were a group of homophobes holding up signs.
"YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" One woman shouted at me, and I flipped her off.
I hurried down the street in an alleyway and changed, a little nervous. I brought my giant trans flag with me, and wrapped it around my shoulders.
"Woo. Here we go." I muttered and climbed up the building. One street over was the parade, and I was pretty scared. I knew no doubt this would be everywhere tomorrow, and I don't want them to think I'm seeking attention. I made sure my webshooters had enough fluid in them, and then I jumped off the building.
I swung around the corner, and high over the parade.
"HOLY SHIT LOOKIT THAT!" I heard one person scream at the top of their lungs.
"HES TRANS?! OH MY GOD!" Another one shouted, and people began to cheer. A smile emerged on my face, with people screaming, and all positively! I looked down at a giant group of people with a trans flag, and pride all over. I figured I should say hi.
I dropped down in front."Is this too extra?!" I shouted over the noise.
"IM ACTUALLY SHOOK, OH MY GOD!" A boy said, and he ran up to me, hugging me. The rest did the same, and tears stung in my eyes. I had never thought in a hundred years that this would happen, and I don't think they did either. Then we took a giant group photo, other people surrounding with cameras, and phones.
"WE LOVE YOU!" They all said, and I nodded, holding up the flag again.
"WOO!" I cheered and shot off the ground to swing to the rest of the parade.
Eventually, I dropped down next to a newscaster who was waving me over.
"So, holy crap! This is actually amazing!" She said, and handed me the microphone, we stood in front of a gigantic Daily Bugle camera. "What made you decide you wanted to do this."
"This actually wasn't my idea, it was a friend's idea, and I figured to do it! It just seems like when you're trans, you won't ever get there because of dysphoria, and there are bullies. But I just really hope that people out there can know that you will be accepted."
"I think this will change a lot of people's views on the LGBT community."
"I sure hope so! Because if not I just am freezing my butt off for nothing." I said, and wrapped the flag around like a blanket.
