~~~ Military reactions
The various military's reactions weren't as bad as last time. This time their systems weren't breached and so they felt like their security was good enough. The broadcast had been over open communications or easily cracked encryption via satellite broadcast media. It helped them feel better about what had happened the last time.
In the U.S. they were on high alert because the Folician's were there. They'd started flying CAP, Combat Air Patrol's, over New York. They also had several special forces units carefully hidden on the tops of, or near the tops of the buildings. They were heavily armed with surface to air missiles in support of the fighter planes. There were other forces hidden around the city and especially near the U.N. They weren't going to take any sort of chances with a potential terrorist attack against the Folician's. If there was there would be a great deal of collateral damage.
Most of the main countries had gone to a heightened security level. The world had calmed down a fair amount, but this was going to get the various terrorist groups more active. It wasn't just the middle eastern groups, but many countries had homegrown terrorists. It wasn't nearly as bad as it had been years ago but there were always some wingnuts out there. It didn't matter if they were far right or far left, there were always some.
~~~ Zane catches the arrival
He was listening to the news as usual. Their arrival wasn't shocking since Kevin was keeping them in the loop. He watched part of it before heading to Adam's office. When he walked in, he snickered, "They're back!!!" He couldn't resist the bad joke related to what he said. Zane flopped in a seat, "I know you know but the Folician's are back and they are shocking the crap out of the U.N. Have you looked at the broadcast?"
Adam laughed and pointed up at the screen which was showing a live feed of the U.N.'s assembly. "I am actually surprised they contacted them this soon. Tapping a button on the control, he turned the volume on. "Although it is mostly the various ambassadors who are making their statements. I am glad we sidestepped being the Were's."
"So, you think we might be called for? Not sure I want to deal with this crap again. With our luck the Moon Goddess would show this time." He was still an agnostic but was willing to admit there might be someone superior to the wolves. Beyond that he simply didn't believe.
Adam shook his head, "Langdon gets the fun of being there, if they need an Alpha. I have passed on what I feel, so I wouldn't need to be there, and have asked the Folicians not to request us by name, so it is very unlikely." He shrugged at the mention about Moon Goddess. He had grown up Christian but had pulled away from the organized religion years before he had been turned, "If she does, she does. We can deal with it if it happens. At most, I will pass on suggestions, but I'm wanting our pack to stay out of the news as much as possible. We don't need even more news crews asking for interviews." They did generally speak with the local news crews, and those who covered the region, as both had a set reporter which they dealt with, and both had spent time with the pack, and were respectful of the limits they placed. They didn't want another Robinson; he had caused issues for packs globally, as 'human-rights' groups tried unsuccessfully to enforce human views and morals on the wolves.
Zane sighed, "I don't have any urge to go back myself. I know what happened hurt Ray and don't need a repeat. I hope this is better than when he was here. Finding Hands is the Senior Priest for Folicia was startling but considering what I felt the time's he visited it's right for him." If the Goddess called for them he'd respond but that was it.
Adam smiled, "It was a bit startling, but he does seem a good person for the role. I did tender him my personal, and the Pack's official congratulations. Since he's going to be on Earth, I offered a private lodge, with nobody outside the pack knowing, if he needs a retreat, and the hospitality of the pack to the entire crew of Admiral Vyra, although it would need to be scheduled." He grinned at his second, "Before you can ask, the patrols and the security systems were stepped up just before they announced themselves, as they had given us a heads up. Toby and Sam say all is good, and they did close a couple of pathways for 'Bear in Area' to keep curious humans out of sight of the inner territory." There were two trails if you knew exactly where to look, could see a couple of the inner territory meadows. They monitored those trails heavily, for their own privacy.
