Chapter 13 - Sees Clearly talks to Hands

"Before we start I need my mate and pup here. She's helping me with my emotions and I need the contact with him. I'm sure you watched the news but my girl with Cindy is dying and I must have them here to keep doing my job. Otherwise I'd be headed back to Folicia and be with Kara and her mother. Now to start, as you know we, I include me with it, are Aliens. I've lived on Folicia most of my life and though human look Folician. I do consider Earth and Folicia my worlds. I love and care for both. Not all our ways are yours such as having a pack of both males and females belong to me. Before anyone bothers asking about females relations, they do have same sex matings. With males it's different. We don't but much of it is related to trying to keep our race going. Even if a male is drawn to another he knows much of his job is to take care of females in heat and at other times of the year. Now for the questions?"

One indicated he had a question and Hands waved at him, "What was the hardest part of getting used to their culture?" When Savory start laughing he was looking confused.

"Sleeping in a room of girls, waking to find several girls curled up with him, and showering." She became more serious, "As it has been mentioned the first few months weren't good for his family even before arriving. They lost their parents, learned Ray's mate was an alien, and having to decide if they were going to Folicia. Toss in homesickness, loosing Flitter, and other issues it was hard for his family. Much like wolves we tend to curl up with those having problems. It was the same with pups from other sections finding him since he is a Pack Father. The first time or two he found a pup from another section curled up almost horrified him."

He snorted, "Won't even go with the waking up with most of the girls in my section not having suit shirts on. Even with the deities muting sexual desires it was hard living with a bunch of girls the first few months. Being Savory was the oldest in the room she'd started to develop, and it was hard to not look and wonder. I was thirteen and she was twelve. It didn't help being moved to an older section and having far more developed girls showering. Remember they don't have a real concept of not showering with others since most males including pups are kept secluded. It's changing but they were doing it to protect them." He had to laugh, "The other hard part was knowing I ended up with 20 females and a male looking to me as their Pack Father. I went from a small-town boy to someone important."

Hands stroked the necklace Golden had given him, "And now the Senior Pack Father Priest for Folicia. He almost needed a new priest when he gave me the necklace. It means so much and don't question our beliefs. We aren't human and have our own deities.

Several of the group had to snicker at both when they were talking, "Pack Father, what is the age Folicians come of age? For us, as you know, once you hit puberty things can happen. What's it like for Folicians?" The woman was making notes as Hands was talking.

"Most Folician's come of age between seventeen and eighteen. For the females they hit their first heat and I do mean it. Much like the Wolves they have a time of year when they can be fertile. For us it's twice a year unlike Wolves who do it once a year. Our heats tend to last a week to maybe ten days. I was about eighteen and with Folician's we tend to go to an older and more experienced person." He smiled, "It helps teach us how to ensure the others we are with will be going to enjoy what we're doing. Not going to say her name but with the permission of her mate she showed me a great deal. I... My sister and I saved her from a horrible location and I went to her because I cared for her. Not as I care for my mate but someone I care a good deal for." Singer had been very enjoyable and educational. The talk with Toes had been hard but he'd understood.

Savory had an arm around Hands, "For the females we are active all year but during heat it's different. Take six months of human hormones and stuff it into a week or so. Not saying our only driving urge is for sex but we do desire it much more. Another thing is with a Folician male our pregnancies are about six months and with a human seven or a bit longer.
