Well, golly, all that talk of productivity has come back to bite today. The power's out for the whole studio. That's right, no lamps, no lights. We're getting by with candles. And get this: no backlighting! Poor Henry can hardly get any character frames done because he can't hold his sheets to light to track movement. It's about now that everyone's especially regretting the horrid lack of windows in the studio! But no matter what, Joey still won't let us leave.
Now, Henry's character team is a small group. Henry himself, the first of all of them, is a pretty patient fellow. But Ronny, well, we can call him pretty talkative. Ronny went straight to Joey to voice his opinions, and, lemme tell you, Joey wasn't happy. No, Joey said right to Ronny, "If you can't do it, I'll do it myself!" And he marched straight out of his own office to that little table in the lobby. He lit himself a candle and sketched away.
I knew Joey had to have some talent, because when the studios first started, it was just him and Henry, but, see, I thought Joey was all business. But no! I was surprisingly very wrong. Heed my words: Joey Drew can draw. And it looked so natural for him! It was as though Bendy was flowing right out of his hand. He got at least five frames done lickety-split. And without backlighting! Henry, surely he was proud—it must have been like old times again! Henry and Joey, side by side, all leveled out, bringing drawings to life.
Unfortunately, Joey Drew's miraculous skill doesn't help our productivity much. I can't get any of my work done, nor can any of the in-betweeners without backlighting. Wally's spent his whole day trying to figure out what's wrong with the electricity. And I suspect none other than Sammy Lawrence will soon be making an appearance to complain about how the darkness is excessive, even for him. But who knows? Maybe Joey's a whiz at the banjo. Everything's in the air now.
